“Love is free, spread it everywhere.”- Sander Jennings
With the rise of social media, we are more connected than ever. And while this increased connectedness gives us an opportunity to come together and support one another, it has also created a platform for people to spread negativity and divisiveness.
Every day, millions of people are ridiculed and belittled because of their identity, beliefs, and looks. And sadly, these events are highly traumatic and have contributed to suicide becoming the second leading cause of death for college-aged youth.
The antidote to this problem is complex, but it starts with increasing the amount of love and acceptance spreading through the world.
The Sander Jennings Spread the Love Scholarship exists to ignite more love and acceptance in our world.
High school and undergraduate students in any field of study are eligible to apply. Applicants will be asked to write a short essay about how their journey with self-love and acceptance has impacted their beliefs, relationships, and aspirations.
How has your journey with self-love and acceptance impacted your beliefs, relationships, and aspirations?
The application deadline is Apr 29, 2021. Winners will be announced on May 30, 2021.
The scholarship award is $1,000 per winner.
The winner will be publicly announced on May 30, 2021. Prior to the announcement date, we may contact finalists with additional questions about their application. We will work with donors to review all applications according to the scholarship criteria. Winners will be chosen based on the merit of their application.
Award checks will be sent to the financial aid office of the winner's academic institution in their name to be applied to their tuition, and in the name of their institution (depending on the school's requirements). If the award is for a qualified educational non-tuition expense, we will work with the winner directly to distribute the award and make sure it goes towards qualified expenses.
Before we award the scholarship, the winner will be required to confirm their academic enrollment status. Depending on the circumstances, verification of Student ID and/or their most recent transcript will be required.
