Diversity of programs. I find other schools have more interesting programs and have more options for studying abroad
I like how welcoming the campus is. At the Daytona Beach campus, there is a very nice student center, where one can study and do homework. At the student center, there are also study rooms available to reserve via appointment, a writing center, and numerous resources who students who need additional support both academically and personally. Lots of diversity among students and many clubs to increase participation and social life. As someone who was nervous to transition from high school to college, Daytona State College has been an amazing place to start my higher education journey. If you want more academically rigorous courses and smaller classes sizes, consider applying for the Quanta Honors College. I am currently a student in my last semester in the Quanta Honors program and have found it extremely helpful in preparing me for the remainder of my academic journey and for allowing me new opportunities--such as conducting research and subsequently being accepted into Florida Undergraduate Research Conference (FURC) with said project. Regardless of your career goals and previous academic history, Daytona State College can be a great and affordable place to obtain an education!
Since there are no dorms as of yet--they are in the process of being constructed--it can be difficult to make new friends on campus. Therefore, it is important to join clubs or sports activities to have a better social experience.
As far as community colleges go, DSC is a very excellent choice! The relatively small student body allows for more personal interaction, which comes in handy from tutoring to tech support. In my experience, all the professors were primarily very kind and supportive; always offering their support toward your betterment and education.
Honestly, my only issue lies with the many classes which were dropped due to low enrollment, however, as the student population grows, I expect that this will lessen.
It's a good started school, staff and students are very friendly and helpful.
Looking for more of a university experience.
The student building has several rooms for studying and is a fantastic place to get work done.
Not all majors are available at the main campus in Daytona.
I think Daytona State has opened my eyes to how a school should run. They have been amazing through the whole process.
I don't like that they don't have the program I'm interested in.
