WHAT I LIKED

SMU is much smaller than most universities and provides a very tight community. The classes are smaller, and you can connect with more people as well as have better relationships with teachers.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

There are some people that go to SMU that have grown up with money and aren't the best people to be around. They have a bit of a problem with superiority.

WHAT I LIKED

As a transfer student, the first semester at SMU was hard socially. Coming back from attending school virtually was an adjustment, and I'm still trying to make friends before I graduate next year. I did get involved in a couple of campus ministries, and that has helped me put myself out there. Academically, being a math major has been harder than I expected, but I'm not giving up. Based on prior research, SMU was one of the highest-ranked schools concerning the math major program. With my situation, I had to live on campus for my first year, but I'm planning on living off-campus next school year. The accommodations aren't bad, but they're not the greatest either. I'm glad I'm at SMU. Even though I don't fit in with the stereotypes that surround this school, I think I'm doing pretty well, and I would encourage prospective students to consider SMU highly.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

Don't get into the frats or sororities. I hear too many bad things about it and I don't think it's worth it. The dining hall food could be improved upon, but it does its job of feeding students.
