I have really loved attending this school for the past two years and have found a great support system. I'm an out-of-state student, so finding where I belonged was so important to me.
I really don't enjoy the food at the dining halls. Some days it is good and other days I prefer to eat out or at small cafes on campus.
The community can feel very welcoming. The campus is also really beautiful with cool architectural buildings.
Some of the people here aren't that nice. I've heard of some racism here with little minority going here.
The food in the dining hall was amazing, and the convenience stores on campus were also super helpful. Overall had a very good experience despite covid. Great Atmosphere.
Covid sucked, parking wasn't too bad, a little bit cold sometimes, but what do you expect.
I enjoy the environment and the calmness that comes with being in the mountains. I have enjoyed my classes as well as what I have learned from student-led organizations.
It can be very difficult to make friends on such a large campus. The dining hall food can be somewhat inconsistent but usually decent.
For prospective students wanting to be more immersed in the social realms of college, this is the place for you. Appalachian State University is a place for all people to be immersed in their college life and even more importantly the life of Appalachia. There are so many options to explore here as well as having so many places to explore not even ten miles away. For adventures and students alike, this is the place for you.
This is a place settled in the mountains of Appalachia, so if the cold is not for you then this might not be a good suit as the fall into winter months can be cold and snow-filled.
So far, Appalachian State University has given me a fair college experience. The university gives students many opportunities to connect, whether it be for social or educational purposes. As for any college, it is smart to research your professors before taking their courses. I found that it is also more beneficial if you take in-person or hybrid courses. Online courses are sometimes asynchronous and some students find them difficult to keep up with.
Prospective students should be aware of the lack of diversity on campus.
