About environmental science scholarships

The environment is a hot topic; environmental research is increasing, and career opportunities are growing as companies and researchers seek to improve environmental health. Environmentally conscious students attending an accredited post-secondary institution to begin their environmental studies should look for external funding to pay for higher education. For those looking to create a sustainable future, scholarship funding can be integral to the pursuit of a degree.

With a declared major in the environmental sciences like environmental health or environmental engineering, students will learn challenging physics, chemistry, and biology fundamentals to resolve environmental issues. Whether you're interested in a water resources-related field, natural science, or environmental engineering, scholarships for environmental science will make college more affordable and allow aspiring environmentalists to conserve energy.

There are several scholarship programs designed to assist students seeking higher education. New scholarships are created on Bold.org daily, generating various scholarship opportunities for students.

What is an environmental science scholarship?

Environmental scholarships support the future of conservation, decreasing pollution, and making the world more sustainable. Receiving a green scholarship helps students pursuing environmental science pay for college. Environmental students should check the scholarships' criteria as they can be one-time awards or annual gifts. Scholarships are like grants in that they do not need to be paid back and help students lower college costs.

To make the cost of an environmental science degree more manageable, Bold.org has generated scholarships for future environmentalists to apply for. Simply apply to one of the scholarships listed on this page to increase your chances of winning a scholarship.

How to apply for environmental science scholarships

One of the first steps in searching for scholarships is to reach out to your college's financial aid office to see what assistance and scholarship opportunities your college offers. In addition to institutional aid, external scholarship platforms can help find resources to assist your educational journey. Bold.org is dedicated to fighting student debt by helping students find scholarship funds.

Bold.org is an excellent place to start your scholarship search. Simply create a Bold.org account and begin browsing numerous available scholarships. This scholarship platform is the largest independent scholarship program in the country with abundant funding opportunities waiting to be awarded.

Applicants must read each guideline carefully to understand the requirements and meet deadlines. Verify whether you meet all of the eligibility criteria before applying. Simply follow the application prompts and click "apply now" to complete your application!

How to get an environmental science scholarship

College-bound students may be wondering how to get scholarships for environmental studies. On Bold.org, students pursuing the environmental field are encouraged to take advantage of the scholarship program by creating a free profile. Upon completing a polished profile, students can begin searching our scholarship program for scholarships best suited to their interests and environmental aspirations.

Best environmental science scholarships

The best scholarships for students seeking an environmental education are those explicitly tailored toward students pursuing environmental science, as this requirement limits the number of eligible applicants. More careers are being dedicated to conserving energy, reducing pollution, and focusing on recycling. More degree programs are being devoted to preparing aspiring environmentalists.

With this increase, the prevalence of green scholarships is rising. On Bold.org, scholarships are grouped, making them easy for students to browse through and apply for. Below are exclusive scholarships for students seeking external funding and support for higher education.

In addition to Bold.orgscholarships can be found from many other sources, including organizations running online scholarships, local businesses, etc.

For example, National Environmental Health Association (NEHA) undergraduate and graduate students who are enrolled in an accredited college or university with a dedicated and recognized curriculum in environmental health sciences are eligible to apply for the NEHA/AAS Scholarship.

Furthermore, the Air Waste Management Association recognizes deserving students each year pursuing courses and research leading to careers in environmental management, air quality, waste management, and sustainability in regard to waste management and air quality. AWMA offers scholarships to full-time graduate students, including international scholarships.

Additionally, Bold.org offers hundreds of scholarships and encourages students to apply for as many scholarships as they wish to maximize their scholarship awards. Below is a list of scholarships offered by Bold.org waiting to be awarded to environmental science students.

Carol S. Comeau Environmental Scholarship

As the climate crisis escalates, the next generation of environmentalists must be supported in their education. Any high school senior at a public high school in Washington planning on attending college or a trade school to pursue environmental studies may apply for this scholarship.

Environmental science scholarships for high school seniors

High school graduates planning to attend college will discover scholarships for environmental studies here at Bold.org. Most scholarships are tailored toward graduating high school seniors; that said, high school seniors have a higher chance of winning scholarship awards. Though do not be discouraged, scholarships for higher education are not limited to high school seniors.

A high school senior planning to pursue an environmental education should reach out to their college's financial aid office to see what financial assistance and scholarship opportunities their college offers. Financial assistance comes in various forms, and one of the most significant is scholarships.

High school students can start applying for scholarships as soon as they're fourteen years old but should definitely consider applying for scholarships in their junior or senior year. Nevertheless, regardless of year, students are encouraged to apply for these scholarships. The earlier students begin taking advantage of scholarship opportunities, the better their chances of maximizing their awarded scholarships.

What career opportunities are there with an environmental science degree?

There are multiple career options to explore with an environmental science degree. Besides being an Environmental Scientist, there are several career fields to pursue, such as being an Agricultural Scientist, Air Pollution Analyst, Natural Resources Manager, Environmental Engineer, Marine Biologist, etc. Environmental work programs and activities protect the environment, and students are encouraged to engage in rural community service or other community service to protect the environment.

How to find environmental science scholarships

To find environmental scholarships, students must search on scholarship platforms like Bold.org, reach out to their school's financial office, professional research organizations that offer environmental scholarships or an environmental fund, and check College Board.

College scholarships are relatively easy to find once students discover a scholarship resource that works for them. On Bold.org, the scholarship search process is made easy. By creating a free profile, students can access hundreds of scholarships unique to Bold.org and begin using the filtered search tool to find scholarships best suited to them.

Do I need an excellent GPA to apply for scholarships?

Grade point average isn't always considered when applying for scholarship awards on scholarship programs. Bold.org offers a wide array of scholarships, including some limited to outstanding students with high GPAs as well as other awards that do not have minimum GPA requirements.

To receive a scholarship, do I have to fill out the FAFSA?

Scholarship policies vary from one college to another. Generally, if you apply for any form of financial assistance, your school may ask you to submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid. Scholarship applications typically do not require a completed FAFSA form. To be sure, reach out to your college's financial assistance office. At Bold.org, you do not need to fill out the FAFSA to apply for scholarships.

How will I receive my scholarship award?

Representatives from Bold.org or the scholarship donor will review the accepted scholarship applications to determine the winner of each scholarship. Once a scholarship winner has been selected and verified, Bold.org will provide payment of the awarded scholarship to the scholarship winner's accredited post-secondary institution to be applied toward tuition and other related educational expenses upon receiving proof of enrollment.

Are scholarships taxable income?

Scholarships can enable students to pursue a higher education that otherwise might not have been possible, so the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) is generous in minimizing students' tax obligations.

You generally do not have to pay taxes on your awarded scholarship money. Degree-seeking students who receive grants, scholarships, or fellowships are required to pay taxes on the money only if the total exceeds the value of their qualified tuition and related expenses. Qualified expenses are generally considered to be tuition, book costs, and course fees, while other expenses such as room and board are not considered qualified costs.

The federal government also provides savings plans, tax credits, and deductions to help taxpayers with their higher education expenses. Additional information regarding these benefits can be found on the IRS website.
