WHAT I LIKED

I think XULA is a great school academics-wise. They are very challenging and they push you to really know the material and if you don’t know it to go and get help from the tutoring sessions, office hours, etc. They hold a lot of school events, community services events, and things like live music Friday, pop-up shops, etc.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

My only downsides of the school are the sometimes lack of communication.

WHAT I LIKED

Xavier is a well-constructed institution. Advisors and faculty care deeply about students and will help if there is an issue. Professors are very caring and will even help students that aren't doing so well in the course. The science classes can be very complex at times but it is imperative for the student to study and make sure that they are confident when it is time for exams.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

There will always be an adult at Xavier that wants to help you. Xavier makes the point very clear that they are here. There are many programs for everybody whether it's internships, clubs, student government associations, etc.

WHAT I LIKED

I like how community service is readily available for all students around campus.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

The campus life can be dead sometimes because everyone is always studying. Also, this school is very hard.

WHAT I LIKED

Do research into the programs you want to study under and make sure to be a good advocate for yourself. Get to know faculty and staff prior to arriving. Don't be afraid to change your major when you can.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

The line of communication between faculty and students is not as good in relation to student's needs. Make sure you have access to all resources since day one.

WHAT I LIKED

Xavier is definitely very academically challenging. But there are resources available to make sure we succeed. I believe your life at Xavier is what you make it. We are a small school but there is a good amount of things to do on and off-campus. Food is alright but it does get repetitive.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

I didn't like the lack of breaks for students. Xavier is the most academically challenging HBCU, and to graduate from there would definitely be an understatement to call it an accomplishment. I just wish they would allow us to take a break every once in a while, you know let us breathe and come back ready--not always be on the go.

WHAT I LIKED

My education experience at the Xavier University of Louisiana has been interesting, to say the least. Xavier's curriculum is honesty quite rigorous, but with hard work and dedication, it is possible to excel academically. You will be challenged, but on the bright side, it will make you a better student and prepare you for your next step in college.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

One thing that I didn't like about Xavier is that a lot of the professors are not as lenient or sympathetic to what you may be going through outside of their class.
