Nebustream Technology Development Scholarship
Access to technology and specialized education is the ultimate equalizer, offering students a route to lucrative and growth-oriented careers. Unfortunately, these opportunities are often locked behind a paywall.
Many students from rural areas or humble beginnings don’t have computer science programs in their high schools. As a result, some of the most talented students don’t come across computer science until college, where they may already experience a gap between their knowledge and that of their peers who benefited from computer science education in earlier years.
This scholarship aims to support students who are passionate about pursuing careers in information technology, computer science, or DevOps.
Any high school senior or undergraduate student in Texas or California may apply for this scholarship opportunity if they’re pursuing information technology, computer science, or DevOps.
To apply, tell us about a time when you failed but didn’t give up, how you handled the situation, why you kept going, and how your mindset has affected your interest in computer science.
Tell us about a time when you failed, but refused to quit.
The Context:
I don’t care about perfect grades. I failed Statistics three times in college, but I never gave up. I grew up in a town where I didn't even know Computer Science existed. There was never money for vacations or extras, so my summers were spent doing chores and helping my parents around the house. Today, I run my own DevOps company. I didn't get here because I was the smartest guy in the room. I got here because I was the most determined.
What to write about:
Describe a specific time you hit a wall—maybe you failed a class, couldn't get a piece of code to run, or didn't have the resources everyone else had. How did you handle that failure? What did you do to keep going when it would have been easier to just walk away? How does that "never give up" mindset drive your interest in IT or computer science today?
