From the moment I first stepped onto a baseball field, I learned that success is never handed to you. This success comes from hard work and a willingness to learn. These lessons have not only helped me while playing baseball but have also helped me grow outside of sports when learning about my future career. In the future, I want to go into a business field. I want to go into some form of sales. I will use the skills and connections I have gotten from baseball to help me grow in this career path. The skills I have learned include good communication and the ability to work as part of a team. However, it is my goal to continue to play baseball as long as possible. Baseball has always meant a lot to me. I have met some of my closest friends and coaches through this game. This has made it one of my favorite things to do. Going out on a weekend and being able to compete with another team is something that I never want to lose. Another thing baseball has taught me is how to handle pressure, which will help me in my future workplace when it comes to working on deadlines and on important projects with team members. This will be important because being able to work in pressure situations with a team is something that happens in many different workplaces and job types. Another way baseball has shaped me is through my understanding of preparation. In baseball, preparation is one of the most important things. It is almost impossible for someone not to prepare for a game and still succeed. This need for preparation has instilled a habit of preparing for things outside of sports. Overall, baseball has meant a lot to me. It is something that brings me joy, along with a place where I can feel completely myself. This sport has always meant more to me than just a game. It is a passion and something that has built me up into a better person. Whether that is from the coaches who have set examples for me or the positive impacts different teammates have shown me, it has positively impacted my life. While baseball will not always be around forever, I can carry the key principles and things I have learned along the way into the rest of my education, job, and future.

As a dedicated student-athlete with a strong academic foundation, I am excited to pursue a career in Mechanical Engineering at The Ohio State University. My passion for problem-solving and innovation in engineering has driven my academic and extracurricular pursuits. Throughout high school, I have strived for excellence both in the classroom and on the field, achieving a GPA of 4.37 and being named Valedictorian. I am also honored to have earned a place on the OSHL All-Academic First Team (2023-2025), which speaks to my commitment to academic success while balancing the demands of athletics. I am eager to further this journey by studying Mechanical Engineering at OSU, where I hope to contribute to sustainable technological advancements that improve lives and protect the environment. My passion for baseball has been a significant influence on my life, shaping who I am as both an individual and a leader. Throughout my time as a varsity athlete, I have learned invaluable lessons about perseverance, accountability, and teamwork—traits that have shaped my character both on and off the field. As a starting catcher and captain of my high school baseball team, I have embraced the responsibilities that come with leadership, helping to guide my teammates through both victories and challenges. I also lead an accountability group on the team, where we encourage one another to maintain a strong work ethic, be disciplined in practice, and support each other in all aspects of life. Baseball has taught me to approach challenges with a growth mindset. In the game, setbacks are inevitable—whether it's striking out or losing a close match—but learning to bounce back, stay focused, and push forward is key. This mindset has been instrumental in my academic pursuits as well. The challenges I've faced on the field have given me the resilience to overcome obstacles in the classroom, where I apply the same tenacity and determination to excel. Baseball has also taught me the importance of collaboration and clear communication, as working together as a team is essential to success both in sports and in life. Off the field, my experiences as a volunteer—whether coaching youth hockey, assisting with baseball camps, or organizing community events—have further strengthened my leadership skills. These experiences have reinforced my passion for helping others and fostering a sense of community, which I plan to continue cultivating at Ohio State. At The Ohio State University, I am excited to combine my love for engineering and my leadership skills to make a meaningful impact both in the classroom and within the athletic community. I am confident that the lessons learned from baseball and my academic achievements have prepared me to excel at OSU and beyond, and I am eager to contribute my work ethic, perseverance, and dedication to both the university and my future profession.
