My Christian faith and my commitment to education have guided the trajectory of my life and future long before I was born. Through their faith in God and their pursuit of higher education, they lifted themselves from poverty-stricken backgrounds to being the most successful members in their family. My life has been a direct result of their trust in these factors, and they have inspired me to develop into an individual that is deeply tied to his faith in God and a person who recognizes the power of education.
In high school, I achieved a 4.0 GPA, attended honors classes, and graduated from my high school class Magna Cum Laude. However, the most formative experiences came from spending time with my church through various fundraisers, donations, and community service events across the community. By passionately committing to the issues that affected my community such homelessness, food insecurity, and lack of education, I became emboldened of the power service that transformed communities into something positive. It encouraged me to pursue higher education, so I can gain better skills and pursue greater opportunities that would lead to a more fruitful position.
I have always been determined to use my abilities and experiences to make a positive impact on the world, leading to pursue opportunities that will surround me in communities that are equally as altruistic as me. While I had doubts that my main dream in becoming an animator was a limited path to help other people, reading my Bible gave me an important reminder of the plans God had for me, regardless of my talent’s prestige. St. Paul in 2 Corinthians 12: 9 wrote during a moment of crisis that God told Him, “My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness.” This revelation fills me with hope that even though my artistic abilities are not as grandiose as being an effective political activist or having the intellect to discover new cures, I can still make an incredible impact on the world by trusting God will set me on the path to use my skills for the better.
After earning a bachelor’s degree, I hope to combine my passion for animation and my desire to help others on a large scale by creating an animation studio that specializes in delivering more complex representation of other cultures and races. Animation has been historically perpetuated by harmful stereotypes that are present in its most popular works, and the industry is not remarkably diverse in representing minority animators. I hope my studio can change these facts by giving minority animators greater opportunities to show their work and tell stories from specific cultures underrepresented in Hollywood. I started working for studios that are eager to increase diversity in the industry and their work, which can be achieved by the funding from this scholarship.
Thank you are forgiving me for the opportunity to be considered for this scholarship because it validates my journey toward valuable community service and using my abilities to make an impact on the world in a unique way. I am incredibly grateful to continue my journey through the support from this scholarship, and I hope I can receive more opportunities to expand the quality of my education and focus on serving the needs of others. Thank you dearly for this scholarship.
My name is Ayana, and I am an artist, filmmaker, and entrepreneur with a heart full of purpose and a passion for impact. I’ve always known that I was meant to do more than just exist—I was created to shine, inspire, and lead. Every part of my journey has pushed me toward the dream of becoming a global entertainer and creative force who brings light to others, especially within my community.
Growing up, I faced a lot of doubt and pressure. Many people in my high school laughed at my dreams of being a superstar. I carried the weight of expectations—not just for myself but from older family members who looked up to me to “make it.” I didn’t have everything figured out, but I had drive, vision, and most importantly, faith. I kept God first and never stopped praying for clarity, strength, and guidance. Even when things were hard, I reminded myself why I started—and that’s what made me a leader.
Today, I’m proud to say I am signed to a label and actively working on building my music career while also developing a movie script and launching my own brand. Many of the same people who once doubted me now look up to me. My success isn’t just for me—it’s for every young girl who feels like her dreams are too big for her circumstances. That’s why I work so hard to stay consistent, to show what’s possible through my content, and to use my voice to uplift others.
My career goals include becoming an internationally known artist who blends pop, R&B, and performance in a way that empowers and entertains. I want to tour the world, release music that heals and excites, and use storytelling to represent powerful young Black women on screen and in sound. Beyond music, I want to direct films, produce empowering content, and run a successful fashion brand that promotes confidence and creativity.
But more than fame or success, I want to make a real impact. In my community, there are so many talented, creative young people who just need someone to believe in them. I plan to create a mentorship program where I teach students how to build personal brands, create music or content, and turn pain into purpose. I also want to host free creative workshops and mental health events for teen girls to help them see their worth, grow their faith, and discover their voice.
Higher education will play a key role in helping me turn these ideas into action. I plan to study Radio, Television, and Film so I can sharpen my technical skills and open doors for bigger opportunities. With the knowledge I gain, I’ll be able to produce my own media, understand how to run a business, and build a strong foundation that keeps me from being just another entertainer—I want to be a mogul, a storyteller, and a force for change.
I believe when you come from struggle and still decide to love, lead, and uplift others, that’s what real power looks like. I want to be remembered as someone who didn’t just chase a dream—but turned it into something bigger than herself. With your support, I will continue building that future—one where my success becomes a mirror that shows others what’s possible for them, too.
My name is Gabrielle Mickle. I’m a 19-year-old sophomore at Prairie View A&M University, majoring in Agriculture with a concentration in Animal Science and a minor in Chemistry and Veterinary Medicine. From a young age, I knew I wanted to work with animals, and now I’m fully committed to turning that lifelong passion into a career as a veterinarian. Throughout high school and college, I’ve remained focused on my academic and personal growth by staying active in organizations like Top Teens of America, National Honor Society, Black Student Union, and the Pre-Vet Club. I’ve also consistently earned Honor Roll recognition for my academic performance. These experiences have helped shape who I am today—a dedicated, passionate, and community-minded young woman working hard to make a difference.
Growing up around dogs and helping care for them since I was nine years old sparked my interest in animal care. They weren’t just pets—they were family. Over time, I developed a deeper understanding of how important it is to provide proper care and attention to animals, especially when they can’t speak up for themselves. That early exposure led me to begin volunteering at animal shelters, where I’ve helped walk, feed, and comfort animals in need. These hands-on experiences showed me the power of compassion and the real-life impact veterinarians have, not only on animals but also on their owners and communities.
My goal is to become a licensed veterinarian and one day open my own animal clinic in a community where access to affordable veterinary care is limited. I’ve seen firsthand how difficult it can be for families to get proper care for their pets due to financial or transportation challenges. I want to change that by providing affordable services, offering educational workshops for pet owners, and being a resource for people who want the best for their animals but may not always have the means. I want to make it easier for families to keep their pets happy, healthy, and at home.
Beyond running a clinic, I also plan to give back through education and outreach. I hope to work with local schools and youth programs to introduce students—especially those from underrepresented backgrounds—to careers in animal science and veterinary medicine. I believe it’s important for young people to see someone who looks like them pursuing a career they may not have considered. If I can inspire just one student to follow their dreams, I’ll consider that a success.
Everything I’ve done so far—from academics to volunteering to campus involvement—has been with a purpose: to serve, to learn, and to lead. I’m not just chasing a career; I’m creating a life built on compassion, impact, and dedication. Becoming a veterinarian is my calling, and I am ready to continue working hard to make it a reality—not just for myself, but for the animals and communities who need someone to care for them.
