We believe the arts & sciences are naturally closely intertwined and evident in the world around us. Our goal is to help support students who want to creatively bridge the gap between art & science in practical & sustainable ways that also help serve our communities. We created this scholarship to support underrepresented students interested in pursuing similar endeavors in the arts & sciences, whether through entrepreneurship, philanthropy, or working with a company with strong community values. The plan is to start small as we get our feet wet & build upon the scholarship year over year.

Katie Buckentine
Jeanie Buckentine passed away on May 25, 2021, after a long battle with metastatic breast cancer. Although she left this world too soon, it was not before making a tremendous impact on those fortunate enough to know her. Jeanie was a loyal employee, a devoted friend, and a loved and respected member of the community. More importantly, however, Jeanie was the best mother I could have ever had. I have been a Registered Nurse for over three years and am pursuing graduate school to become a Family Nurse Practitioner. Simply put, I love my job. Healthcare allows me serve others, stimulate my critical thinking, and collaborate with some of the most brilliant members of society. Furthermore, my commitment to excellence, integrity, and continued growth has served me well in refining my nursing practice. Although I am grateful to have found my home in healthcare, I am confident I would not be in the position I am without my mom, Jeanie. Nursing is a second career for me which required me to go back to school. As a young adult this was an intimidating step to take. My mom is the one who pushed me, supported me, and single handedly convinced me to believe in myself and find the strength to overcome obstacles. She helped me break down my fears and excuses, affirmed me and my goals, and was the best pretend patient to practice on as I was learning new skills. I have created the Jeanie A. Memorial Scholarship so that even after her death, she can continue to help others achieve their dreams, just like she did for me. The Jeanie A. Memorial Scholarship fund would be awarded to a student or students pursuing an undergraduate degree in a healthcare or agriculture related field, the industries that her children work in and love. Recipient selection will be based on the student’s demonstration of resiliency, integrity, and commitment to growth, three things that my mom inspired in me.
