At WLU, new students can request to live in any residence hall, including traditional dorms, suites, apartments, and houses (campus-owned houses for Greek Life). Students are eligible to apply for Housing as soon as they're accepted to the University. Priority placement is given to upperclassmen/returning students, and new students are placed based on the date they submit their Housing application and (refundable) deposit. "Bear Necessities" is a Sodexo-operated convenience store located in the Student Union. "The Store" is a local favorite that is just minutes from campus. Additionally, there are endless local and franchise retailers and restaurants throughout the City of Wheeling and at The Highlands, which is approximately 20 minutes from WLU's main campus.

There are 50+ student clubs and organizations at WLU. Students can get involved with academic honor societies, personal interest groups, faith-based organizations, and more. There are also 10 Greek organizations -5 fraternities and 5 sororities- that coordinate a lot of philanthropic and social events both on campus and in the local community.
