WHAT I LIKED

The campus responded well to COVID quarantines, by switching all classes to online platforms, providing laptops and other equipment to students, issuing more scholarships and food drives to eligible students, and reducing fees for parking and enrollment.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

The classes and curriculum for many programs are not accepted by community colleges or universities in other states, making transfer harder if not in CA.

WHAT I LIKED

I have been attending Mesa for two years now, and I am currently in the transition to receive my Associate's Degree for Transfer. I began attending a few months after the COVID-19 Pandemic began, so I only had the option to attend online. The instructors were so understanding and made the online experience much easier. Even though I don't attend Mesa on a full-time basis in person, my overall experience has been amazing. I am also a Veteran, so the Veteran's Department at Mesa is very accommodating and accessible.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

I would be aware of communication with the Financial Aid department. It can oftentimes be difficult to contact them when necessary.

WHAT I LIKED

If you're thinking about going to college but aren't ready for a 4-year University, then a school like San Diego Mesa College is a great place to start. There are a variety of classes and programs to choose from to help you pick the major that's right for you. The counselors were especially helpful and made sure I was on track to completing my general ed.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

Just make sure to look closely at the general ed requirements and verify that you are taking the right courses. It's really easy to overlook the tasks you need to complete.

WHAT I LIKED

For the years I was at SD Mesa, I took online courses. I did not get to experience the traditional campus feel, however, almost all of my professors were kind and understanding. I was only able to engage in one campus curricular, which was a book club.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

Finding a good professor can be a bit difficult, and if you aren't prepared for many difficult attitudes then be aware. It is also difficult to engage with an overwhelming student body that does not care too much about studying.
