Pittsburg State University is a wonderful college with so many opportunities for students. I really enjoy being a student here.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

I recommend using the U-hall instead of the dining hall. It is a much better-priced option with good food and a wonderful atmosphere.

WHAT I LIKED

I really like the community. It is a small town, so everything is available to me. I really like the classes. The teachers are very nice and want you to succeed. There are many resources, very interesting classes, and a spot for everyone.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

Living on campus hasn't been my favorite. I do not always like the food, but there is enough food for everyone all the time. Parking is also not the best.

WHAT I LIKED

I really enjoyed the option of having free transportation to many of the popular places on campus including the dining hall the rec center and the tech center. I also really like the organizations that the school has and how inclusive they are. And I also really enjoy the art department, everyone is very nice and very welcoming to every student that they receive. I’ve never met a nicer bunch of teachers and professors until now.

WHAT I didn’t LIKE

If I’m honest I wasn’t completely ready to transfer to college immediately from corona/quarantine and I understand that this year couldn’t have been of the standard and as amazing as it could’ve been but I endured a lot of mental health issues and was not helped at all by the school nor its counseling. If you struggle with mental health I definitely don’t recommend that you go here. Outside of campus is very conservative and you can’t really be out proudly outside of school. The ratio of people of color in the school is greatly outweighed by all of the white people here. Although there is a great program for people of color and people who are in the LGBT community, I sincerely do not recommend coming here due to some racism and bigotry that you may endure. The rooms are never temp acclimated, it’s always too hot or too cold and you’ll never know when the AC or heating will be turned on at any time, so you’ll just kind of have to wait and see if the school things that you deserve heating or cooling.
