Mental health should be a priority for everyone, but the remaining stigma around mental illnesses has led to a lack of resources and support for those who struggle.

For students who are already struggling with their mental health, the stress created by the academic and financial requirements of college can be enough to lead to a mental crisis.

This scholarship aims to support the mental health of those who are pursuing higher education by relieving some of the financial stress of college.

Any student who struggles to balance a need to be perfect with the financial stress and anxiety they face while pursuing their education may apply for this scholarship.

To apply, tell us about your favorite tips or resources to clear your mind.

Shawn's "Mental Health Tips”

  • Mindfulness - Helping to clear your mind regularly. This can be done through daily meditation or apps like Headspace.
  • Running - Putting new music on (like Harry Styles' latest track), and going for a run helps clear the mind and invigorates the body.
  • Journaling - Allows internal processing of thoughts. Creates a "positive inner voice."
  • Positive Affirmations - Speak out kinder, forward thinking statements to self out loud.
  • Growth Mindset - Builds resilience in tackling adversity.
  • Prayer - Finding trust in higher power helps bring a sense of peace. Christianity serves as Shawn's religion. He realizes though everyone has a different set of beliefs.
