La Fuerza de Uno Scholarship
The La Fuerza de Uno Scholarship expands access to higher education for Latino students raised in single-parent households who face financial barriers to college.
This scholarship was born from lived experience. La Fuerza’s founder was raised by a single mother without the financial advantages that can make higher education feel attainable. Through opportunity, plenty of support, hard work, and a whole lot of grit, that journey eventually led to Harvard. A student’s family income, household structure, or immigration status should never determine how far their talent and ambition can take them. One parent or guardian may have raised them, but they should never have to build their future alone.
This scholarship seeks to support students of Latin American heritage who need support in order to afford college.
Any high school senior at a U.S. high school who is Latino, Hispanic, Latine, or of Latin American heritage and who was raised primarily in a single-parent or single-guardian household for a meaningful portion of childhood may apply for this scholarship opportunity if they demonstrate financial need and if they will enroll in a college, university, or other postsecondary educational program in the fall of 2027.
To apply, submit an essay of 400-600 words telling us about the household that raised you and how growing up in a single-parent home impacted you, your values, and your goals. Additionally, submit an essay telling us about a moment when you felt most like yourself, what was happening at that time, and what that moment tells you about who you are.

Award amounts per winner are designated by the donor. Check the award amount for a detailed breakdown.
The winner will be publicly announced on Apr 13, 2027. Prior to the announcement date, we may contact finalists with additional questions about their application. We will work with donors to review all applications according to the scholarship criteria. Winners will be chosen based on the merit of their application.
Award checks will be sent to the financial aid office of the winner's academic institution or future academic institution in their name to be applied to their tuition, and in the name of their institution (depending on the school's requirements). If the award is for a qualified educational non-tuition expense, we will work with the winner directly to distribute the award and make sure it goes towards qualified expenses.
Before we award the scholarship, the winner will be required to confirm their academic enrollment status. Depending on the circumstances, verification of Student ID and/or their most recent transcript will be required.
