“Study hard what interests you the most in the most undisciplined, irreverent and original manner possible.” - Richard Feynman
In school, you're told to follow the rules and get A's.
But once you enter the real world, your grades don't matter. What matters is your ability to solve hard, ambiguous problems. To do this well, you need to follow your interests, work hard, build strong relationships, and think independently.
As one small way of encouraging everyone to stop obsessing about getting an "A" in their courses, the "A's Don't Matter" No-Essay scholarship will support one curious and ambitious student who thinks outside of the box, follows his or her interests, and has a genuine love for learning.
The scholarship is open to all students and non-students from any field of study. The only requirement is that you're a go-getter who will do what it takes to pursue your calling.
The application deadline is Jul 31, 2021. Winners will be announced on Aug 31, 2021.
The scholarship award is $500. It will be awarded to 1 winner every 6 months.
The winner will be publicly announced on Aug 31, 2021. Prior to the announcement date, we may contact finalists with additional questions about their application. We will work with donors to review all applications according to the scholarship criteria. Winners will be chosen based on the merit of their application.
We will send the award check to the financial aid office of the winner’s academic institution or future academic institution in their name, and in the name of their institution (depending on the school’s requirements). If the student's academic institution does not have a financial aid office, the student will receive the funding directly.
Before we award the scholarship, the winner will be required to verify their academic enrollment status by providing a copy of their most recent transcript.
