Hello, My name is Carson Goroff and this scholarship would be a massive help toward completing my college education. Over the course of a semester costs add up, and often there’s no strategic way of avoiding them. Just in the last year and a half I have spent over $700 on digital text books alone. These text books have embedded questions within them meaning, if you can’t access $120 at the time it’s requested your grade is going to end up fronting the bill in the meantime. A scholarship like this would be greatly appreciated for costs like these that are sporadic and unforeseen until their due. However, another way the scholarship can help invest in my future success is by supplementing the amount of money I have to currently pay for housing. Right now the average amount of money being spent on on-campus dormitories and off campus housing is $800 a month. Having an additional $500 would make budgeting for rent much less stressful and allows me more flexibility to spend less time working and more time on my studies. At the time of writing this essay (March 23/26), I am on track to graduate with a double major in business Marketing and Management. The choice to double major means that their is more work to be done, but also more opportunities waiting for me post graduation. However, resume building is not the reason I chose this path. For me my motivation for my degree has never been about getting a high paying job and having a framed price of paper hanging over my head as I sit at my desk. I’ve always looked at my current degree path as an opportunity to major in my personal strengths, Marketing (selling yourself or an idea) and Management (being a leader and bringing people together). I plan on building a career where I collaborate with many people on things that matter, coming up with creative marketing strategies to win people over, and helping support team members during personal and professional hardship. These are my passions that I share with those I work with now, because in my opinion your work doesn't start when you get the job it starts when you when you see an opportunity to implement a change. My hope in the long term is to create my own business where there is a culture built around putting people first and cultivating an intellectual marketplace of growth that facilitates innovation in numerous industries, big and small. I believe this scholarship will provide a valuable foundation for me to make this dream a reality, and make a better world for future innovators like myself.
