If I was a highly influential person, the main thing I would stand for would be racial equality. As an Asian American, I have received many of hateful comment, especially during the pandemic. When the COVID-19 pandemic first began, politicians tried to blame Asians for the pandemic. When this happened, a lot of Asian hate arose for people like me. Strangers would be more brazen with their questioning of my ethnicity. They also could not be deterred by reasoning, and it would take threats of police involvement to stop the harassment. If people were not questioning me, they were definitely glaring at me. I also know that I am not the only one who has experienced this. In fact, Asian hate crime is trending upward. Of course, this is just Asian hate. I know that everyone suffers from this racist hate. It may not be for the same reasons listed above, but I still feel sorry for them because I know what its like to be hated for having different color. Some people believe that racism is dead. I disagree. Our fight against racism is still strong, no matter your race. Therefore, if I was a highly influential figure, my fight against racism would be my top priority. Not every race is perfect because we are humans. There are good and evil humans. We should value people because of their opinions, thoughts, and actions rather than their skin color. We should eliminate the harmful stereotypes that come with being a certain color. Racism is something I will always fight, no matter if I am influential or not.
