Our story
This scholarship is established in loving memory of my son, Zechariah Israel Turner, whose life, far too short, touched the hearts and lives of so many people.
Zechariah was a very caring and compassionate young man. He had a way of making people feel valued and encouraged. He was the kind of person who would uplift those around him and bring positivity wherever he went. His positivity and kindness was not simply something showed on occasion it was a part of who he was. He cared about people, encouraged others, and had a genuine desire to see those around him succeed.
He was also an exceptionally smart and talented young man. One of the things that made him unique was that he was ambidextrous, able to use both hands naturally. He had a sharp mind strong ability in reading, which reflected his intelligence and his potential to accomplish great things.
Basketball was one of his greatest passions. He played basketball for his high school and AAU where he dedicated himself to the sport he loved. Another dream close to his heart was flying an airplane and attending the Air Force. He had aspirations for his future and wanted to serve, grow, and build a meaningful life. His dreams reflected his determination, intelligence, athletic ability, and desire to become something greater.
Although we will never have the opportunity to see all the greatness that Zechariah could have accomplished, we can keep his dreams, his kindness, and his legacy alive through the lives of others.
This scholarship is more than financial assistance. It is a way of carrying his memory forward. It is our hope that the recipients of this scholarship will pursue their education with determination, embrace opportunities, and continue to uplift others along the way.
In honoring Zechariah, we hope to encourage young people to believe in themselves, pursue their dreams, work hard, and remember the importance of kindness and compassion. His life reminds us that the way we treat others can leave a lasting impression.
May this scholarship serve as a reflection of the young man he was… smart, talented, caring, encouraging, and full of life and dreams. May Zechariah’s memories continue to inspire others to reach for their own dreams while helping those around them along the way. One of Zechariah’s coaches said it best if you ever knew him you would never forget him. You would never meet another one. He said Zechariah is one of one.
Forever loved, Forever remembered, Forever inspiring

Our goal
My 16 year old son was killed by a drunk driver on 10/4/25. My son, Zechariah, would have been a senior graduating class of 2027. In memory of my son I wanted to do a scholarship fund at his school for the graduating class of 2027.
