Legacy of Hope Scholarship Fund

Cancer has taken far too much. It has meant watching people we love fight battles no family should have to face, saying goodbye far too soon, and learning how to continue forward while carrying the absence of people who can never be replaced. But cancer does not get to define the people it has touched. The people we have lost were defined by how they lived, how they loved, and how they treated others. They were the type of people who would give you anything they had if they thought it would make your life a little easier. They gave their time, their support, their friendship, their laughter, and their love freely. If someone needed help, they helped. If someone needed encouragement, they were there. They gave without expecting anything in return because that was simply who they were. Although we would give anything to have them back, we know that one of the greatest ways to honor their lives is to continue giving in their memory. The Legacy of Hope Scholarship was created from that love. It was created so that something meaningful could grow from tremendous loss. It was created to help a young person with a dream of entering healthcare take one more step toward that future. It was created so that the generosity and compassion of those we have lost can continue to make a difference. Every student who receives this scholarship will carry a small piece of that legacy forward. One day, that student may become the nurse holding someone's hand, the healthcare professional offering reassurance during a frightening moment, or simply the person who chooses kindness when someone needs it most. Cancer may have taken precious lives, but it cannot take away the love they gave, the lives they touched, or the memories they left behind. Through this scholarship, their giving continues. Their kindness continues. Their legacy continues. And most importantly, hope continues.
