Our story

We hope he is remembered for his successes in life, his courage, his desire to help others, and his love of technology, traveling, and adventures. His contagious laughter ensured a smile on anyone’s face. We hope that we can keep the joyous parts of Lane alive through this scholarship given annually.

Our goal

Mental Health issues such as Depression, Bipolar Disorder, Anxiety, Substance Abuse, Paranoia, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and ADHD are just a few of the ailments that affect a growing number of people in this country and the world. Many of these people go undiagnosed and others are placed in institutions that are at best inadequate. Society has approached this problem with eyes closed. Prescription medications are prescribed that often only mask the underlying problem or cause different issues possibly leading to additional medications. Therapy practices for treatment are few in number, inconsistent in results and outdated in approach to the diagnosis. The limited number of Mental Health facilities are often understaffed, have antiquated rooms and beds, and in many cases offer care that is mediocre at best. Our son, Lane Nicholls Trueblood, was diagnosed with many of these ailments beginning at age 7. Our family suffered as did Lane over the years in search of solutions. On February 19, 2021, at age 20 years old, our beloved son died from an accidental overdose in his personal search for remedies for his pain. Lane was a very intelligent, loving and caring individual who will never be forgotten. The Trueblood Family and friends hope to forever bring his name into light. The Lane Nicholls Trueblood Memorial Foundation is dedicated to increasing awareness and care for those suffering from Mental Illness. It is with great pride that the Foundation offers a $1,000 scholarship to a graduating High School Senior who has illustrated an interest to help those with Mental Illness or is a graduating senior who has illustrated concern and support of fellow students and provides needed peer support or is a student who struggles with issues personally and can use the financial support to help them to succeed. The selected graduate will be attending a Trade School, Community College, College or University. Lane’s light will continue to shine for years to come through this annual scholarship. Lane will be forever loved and never forgotten.
