La Fuerza de Uno Scholarship Fund

I started the La Fuerza de Uno Scholarship because this mission is deeply personal to me. I was raised by a single mother in a Latino household without the kind of financial resources that can make college feel easily attainable. Through opportunity, support, hard work, and a lot of grit, my own path eventually led me to Harvard. I know how much the right opportunity can change the trajectory of a student’s life, and I also know there are many talented Latino students from single-parent households who may never feel like higher education is within reach simply because of financial barriers. The La Fuerza de Uno Scholarship was created to help change that. Each year, the scholarship supports a Latino high school senior who was raised primarily in a single-parent or single-guardian household, demonstrates financial need, and plans to pursue higher education. There is no U.S. citizenship or immigration-status requirement. La Fuerza de Uno is built around my personal commitment to fund one $5,000 scholarship each year. This fund exists to extend that commitment, not replace it. Our immediate community goal is to raise an additional $5,000 so we can support a second La Fuerza de Uno Scholar. If contributions exceed that goal, additional funds may be used to increase an award, support additional scholars, or strengthen future scholarship cycles. Every contribution allows us to put more opportunity behind students raised in single-parent and single-guardian households. One scholarship starts with me. What we build beyond that starts with all of us. Raised by one. Backed by many.
