Our story

Kira Jennings attended K-12th grade in the Center Joint Unified School District. As an adult, she returned to the Antelope area so that her two sons could attend school in the Center District. As a parent, Kira was always on campus volunteering in classrooms and as a board member of the PTA. If anyone needed help, they could count on Kira to be there. Outside of school, Kira always had school supplies and food items for anyone who needed them. Because of her knowledge of the school, she was hired as the secretary at the elementary school where her boys attended school. She continued as a PTA board member and helping others when needed. As her boys moved up, so did Kira. She was hired at the district level as an administrative secretary for the Director of Special Ed. Soon all the schools in the district called Kira when they had a problem, or needed a question answered. In 2022, Kira was diagnosed with stage 4 colon cancer, that had also moved into her lungs. But she didn't slow down. She continued to work and volunteer. You never heard her complain about her condition or her pain. Her concern was to make sure everyone around her had what they needed. Kira passed away in April 2026, one month before her oldest son graduated from high school. There were more than 300 people what attended her Celebration of Life; a testament to how many lives she touched and how many people loved her.

Our goal

This fund will support the Kira Jennings Memorial Scholarship. This scholarship will be awarded to a student who demonstrates civic duty through community service and involvement in school related activities. Our goal is to raise $10,000 dollars or more to be used for scholarship purposes.
