Dear Teria Onwuaduegbo Foundation, I want to express my heartfelt appreciation for selecting me as a recipient of the Teria Onwuaduegbo Black Women in STEM Scholarship. It truly means so much to be recognized in this way, and I’m grateful for your confidence in my potential. Receiving this scholarship brings tremendous encouragement and support as I continue my journey as an Artificial Intelligence student at Rice University. Your generosity lightens my financial commitments and allows me to channel even more energy into my studies, volunteering, and leadership roles—ensuring that I can keep pushing boundaries in both technology and community impact. As someone deeply passionate about inclusive innovation, I’m inspired by Teria Onwuaduegbo’s legacy, which urges women like me to pursue our goals boldly, no matter the challenges. I’m honored to carry on Teria Onwuaduegbo’s legacy through this scholarship, and it motivates me to keep working toward making a meaningful difference in my current work, on campus, or in the wider world. Your support reminds me of the power of community and representation in STEM. I hope to pay this kindness forward by mentoring others and advocating for equity at every step of my career. Thank you, Sydney Batts
