Mission

Dr. Soronnadi Nnaji was raised in Owerri, Nigeria. As a father, uncle, mentor, educator and community leader, Dr. Nnaji has always demonstrated a strong love for his community, Nigerian heritage and morally and financially supported those who strive to achieve excellence through education. In honor of his dedication, his three daughters (Ngozi, Chioma and Ninika), have created a scholarship for Nigerian/Nigerian-American high school and college students who have and will continue to value education, Nigerian pride and serving the community, as personified by Dr. Nnaji.

Dear Nnaji Family, I am absolutely thrilled and deeply honored to be chosen as a recipient of the Dr. Soronnadi Nnaji Legacy Scholarship! Receiving this award means the world to me — it’s not just about the financial support, but about connecting to the incredible legacy of Dr. Soronnadi Nnaji. I’m so excited to have learned more about him through this scholarship. Your generosity lifts a huge burden from my shoulders as I pursue my civil engineering degree at Ohio State, allowing me to dedicate myself fully to my studies and my dream of making a positive impact. My passion for civil engineering is inspired by my experiences in the Congo, where my parents are from, and where I’ve seen the vital need for better infrastructure firsthand. I want to be a part of developing the world's infrastructure, especially back in Africa. Learning about Dr. Nnaji’s lifelong dedication to education, Nigerian pride, and empowering others is truly inspiring, and it motivates me to embody these same values as I move forward. Your family’s kindness has not only provided me with the opportunity to pursue higher education but has also ignited my passion to serve and uplift my community. Thank you so much for your incredible generosity and for honoring Dr. Nnaji’s inspiring legacy in such a meaningful and poweful way. With much gratitude, Nahano Lufungulo

As the only daughter in an African household, I am inspired by any circumstance in which the African community uplifts each other and showcases our greatness. For the past four years, I have dedicated my time and effort to discovering innovative ways to provide for my Nigerian community back home through medicine, and the Dr. Soronnadi Legacy Scholarship has empowered me with its resources so that I can one day make a difference. You have shown me great kindness. Thank you, or as they say in my native tongue, ashi!
