To promote talented students who are passionate about any subject in the humanities in a very modern world. The student should want to create a more thoughtful and reflective society and community through their studies with proven efforts that they care about uplifting their community in so doing. My brother, Timothy Phipps, was a thoughtful and inquisitive person and student who attained his degree in philosophy. He was always interested in big ideas of life and hated to see suffering. He valued those traits in others. This is in Tim's honor and for students who want to make a better world.
