I chose a career in the trades because I enjoy working with my hands and solving real-world problems. Since I was young, cars have always interested me. I wanted to understand how they worked and what made them run better. I spent a considerable amount of time learning about engines and suspensions, and I was amazed at how small changes could significantly improve a car’s performance. Watching NASCAR and movies like Fast and Furious made me even more excited about cars, especially seeing the teamwork and skill involved. My curiosity grew into determination as I taught myself car basics, watched repair videos, and helped friends with their vehicles. Eventually, I realized that getting a formal education in the trades was the right next step. That’s why I decided to train at Universal Technical Institute in Bloomfield, New Jersey, or NYADI College of Transportation Technology, where I am turning my passion into a career. The trades appeal to me because they are hands-on, practical, and impactful in ways that directly improve people’s lives. Cars are essential for work, school, and family, and a skilled automotive technician can make the difference between being stranded and moving forward in one's day. I chose this career because I wanted work that combines my personal passion with the ability to serve others. I see the trades as a way to build a stable future for myself while also contributing to the stability of my community. Unlike many jobs that can feel distant or disconnected from real-world needs, automotive repair provides immediate results, which I find rewarding. Beyond my career goals, I also care deeply about social causes that connect to responsibility and fairness. One issue I am particularly concerned about is road safety. Growing up, I learned how devastating accidents caused by impaired or distracted driving can be for families. That is why I am committed not only to keeping cars running safely but also to promoting safe driving habits in my community. Another cause that matters to me is economic opportunity for young people. I know from my own experience that not everyone fits the same path, and college is not always the only route to success. Skilled trades offer a pathway for individuals who want to work hard, learn, and build a career without being burdened by years of debt. Eventually, I hope to mentor young people from my community who may feel unsure about their future and show them that the trades are a viable and fulfilling option. Additionally, honesty and fairness in the workplace are values that I hold in high regard. Too often, people worry that mechanics or technicians may take advantage of their lack of knowledge. I want to break that stereotype by being a professional who communicates openly, values customers’ time and money, and earns trust through integrity. In doing so, I can not only repair cars but also repair relationships between workers and the communities they serve. For me, choosing a career in the trades is about more than just getting a job. It’s about building a life that matters. This path enables me to work with cars, develop my skills, and support causes I care about, including safety, opportunity, and fairness. I believe that with hard work, I can make a real difference in the shop and in my community.

I am passionate about a career in automotive repair. Since childhood, cars have been more than transportation—they've been puzzles and stories. Watching NASCAR and movies like Fast and Furious sparked my interest. I loved the engines, pit teamwork, and seeing well-tuned cars perform. My curiosity drove me to learn about engines, brakes, and suspensions. I spent hours on YouTube watching repair videos and car reviews, learning new terms, basic repairs, and building confidence. This led me to pursue training at NYADI College of Transportation Technology or The Universal Technical Institute depending on which one i decide to attend. My inspiration comes from role models and hands-on practice. Motorsports taught me teamwork and precision; mechanics I watched and techs I met while helping friends showed the satisfaction of diagnosing and fixing problems. Running Snacktivist, my small business, also made me responsible and persistent—skills that fit the trade mindset: show up, do the job well, and earn trust. I admire technicians who combine skill and honesty. I strive to be a mechanic who explains repairs, values customers’ time and budgets, and treats every car as if it were a family member My plan to master the trade includes formal education, hands-on experience, and continued learning. Both NYADI and UTI offer structured training and modern tools, but education goes beyond graduation. I plan to work in shops with experienced technicians, undertake additional projects, and earn certifications for new technologies, such as hybrid and electric vehicles. I aim to develop diagnostic and communication skills essential for explaining complex issues to customers. Skilled work matters because it keeps communities moving. Reliable transportation has a significant impact on jobs, education, and family life. As a competent and ethical technician, I can reduce stress, keep people safe, and provide honest and affordable service. I hope to open a shop that hires and trains young people from my neighborhood. By mentoring students, I can show the trades offer stability, pride, and opportunities, just as I benefited from guidance. My passion for automotive repair became a clear goal. With NYADI education or UTI's education, depending on which one I attend, combined with shop experience and a commitment to learning and honesty, I hope to become a technician who not only fixes cars but also strengthens my community. I also want to thank my dad, as he is a bit of a car enthusiast himself. He taught me what makes each car unique and how they stand out in our society.

This initial curiosity evolved into a focused pursuit of knowledge regarding vehicle systems and repair. The progression from entertainment to technical understanding motivated enrollment at NYADI College of Transportation Technology or the Universal Technical Institute in Bloomfield, New Jersey, leading to a pursuit of a professional career in automotive repair. The pursuit of automotive education has involved considerable challenges, including balancing academic responsibilities, personal obligations, and financial constraints. The cost of education has presented significant obstacles. However, a commitment to perseverance and disciplined effort has maintained focus on professional goals. Experience managing a small business, Snacktivist, reinforced the importance of resilience and sustained commitment during periods of adversity. These experiences have instilled in me a determination to persevere despite difficulties. They have also shown me the true meaning of hard work, consistency, and adapting to new environments and technologies, which are essential for achieving long-term success. The objective is to develop expertise as a dependable automotive repair technician who provides essential support to individuals and communities. Automotive systems play a critical role in daily life, and vehicle malfunctions can disrupt employment, family responsibilities, and personal well-being. Hello, my name is Zuriel Alvarado, and I am pursuing a career in mechanical engineering at NYADI College of Transportation Technology or the Universal Technical Institute in Bloomfield, New Jersey. I have been interested in cars since I was a little kid. It always fascinated me how they work and operate to create something breathtaking and powerful. Growing up, I enjoyed watching NASCAR races and car movies, such as the Fast and Furious series, which also deepened my interest and love for cars. However, what inspires me the most is being able to understand the inner workings of a car, including how to diagnose and repair problems, as well as how each component functions within it. In my opinion, auto and diesel repair is not just a job; it's about learning how to problem-solve and diagnose issues, and having the satisfaction that I can help the people in my community. I plan to fully master my career choice by staying focused on my education and gaining hands-on experience through learning how to repair cars and diagnose related problems. Both UTI and NYADI will provide me with the training I need to succeed in the automotive field, and I am aware that the industry is constantly evolving. With electric and hybrid cars becoming increasingly prominent in the vehicle market, I must adapt and educate myself effectively to ensure success. To me, mastering mechanical engineering isn't just about knowing how to repair vehicles or replace a broken part. It means knowing how to adapt in a constantly evolving industry, learning to be patient and precise with every repair job, and creating trust in consumers that they will trust me to repair their car in the future. I don't just want to be known as a top auto/diesel technician, but also as someone people can trust with their safety and repairs. A long-term goal of mine is to become one of the top automotive and diesel technicians in the world. I want to open my own shop, where I can offer high-quality repairs and excellent customer service, while treating my customers fairly and with respect. Having good transportation is a necessity; when someone's car breaks down, their ability to get to work, school, or their destination safely is hindered. I aim to provide affordable services, make a positive impact in my community, and offer opportunities to those who share my passion for cars. I also hope to mentor young students who are pursuing a career in the automotive field and teach them what it means to be a good engineer, as well as how to treat their customers with respect. Trades like this often don't get the recognition they deserve, and I am here to change that. By mentoring others, I aim to help them discover their purpose in life. Receiving a scholarship would help me achieve my goals and alleviate my financial concerns. It would enable me to acquire the necessary tools and resources to become a skilled automotive repair technician. Most of all, it would show me that others believe in my potential and want to see me do well. With that support, I feel confident that I can keep moving forward, build my career, and eventually help others in the same way.

Ever since I was a kid, I have always been fascinated by cars. When I was growing up, I would watch NASCAR races on TV and movies related to vehicles, such as The Fast and the Furious, which significantly contributed to my interest in understanding how cars operate. It wasn't just the speed of the cars that interested me; I also wanted to understand what was going on under the hood of a car. The way the engine sounded, the design of each vehicle, and how each part worked to create something that is both fast and powerful all grabbed my attention. On YouTube, I would watch car reviewers discuss and review a specific type of model, explaining how it worked and what made the car unique. As time went on, I wasn't just watching for pure entertainment; I was watching to fully understand how cars operated, and I knew I could turn this passion into a successful career. This is why I plan to attend the Universal Technical Institute in Bloomfield, New Jersey. Here, I can gain hands-on training and the knowledge I need to become one of the top auto technicians in the world. This scholarship is important to me because it can help cover some of my tuition, allowing me to focus on my studies and training without worrying about financial concerns. My primary goal is not only to be one of the top auto technicians in the world, but also to use my skills to help make a positive impact on the world. Cars are a part of our everyday lives. If someone's car breaks down, their ability to work, take care of their family, or get from one place to another quickly is affected, or they are unable to live an everyday life. I want to be a mechanic whom people trust and rely on, honest with his customers and peers, and who is striving and focused on completing the job right. As we look to the future, I hope to stay up-to-date with some of the recent advancements in technology within the automotive industry, such as electric and hybrid cars, because the industry is constantly evolving. By remaining loyal to my goals, I can continue to develop my skills and grow, ultimately providing excellent service to the public. With this scholarship, I can invest in my education at UTI, gain the experience and skills I need, and not only help my community but also contribute to the automotive industry's continued advancement into the future. In conclusion, I aim to harness the passions I've had since childhood and turn them into a career where I can help people, contribute to the automotive industry, and establish a reputation for hard work and integrity in the public eye.

To me, work ethic means staying consistent in what you do, even when no one is watching. It’s about being responsible for your goals and having the determination to keep moving forward, regardless of the challenges that come your way. I try to show this every day, both in school and at work. A good example of my work ethic was during my senior year of high school. In my business class, we were asked to start our own businesses. I created Snacktivist, where I sold healthy snacks, made a menu with prices, did giveaways, and promoted it on social media. Balancing school and running the business was sometimes overwhelming, but my work ethic kept me going. I learned that staying consistent and dedicated leads to results. My work ethic has greatly benefited me in school. There were many days when I stayed up late to study or finish assignments, and I often woke up early to review for exams. Even when things were tough or stressful, I kept going and didn’t give up. Becoming more responsible with my learning helped me make the Principal's List, which I’m proud of. Work ethic also matters when it comes to helping others. I believe in supporting my family, helping friends when they need it, and staying consistent in my efforts. Having a strong work ethic isn’t just about personal success; it’s about being there for others and being honest in what you do. As I embark on my journey toward a career in mechanical engineering, I am confident that my strong work ethic will help me achieve my goals. College and career will have challenges, but I’m confident that the discipline and persistence I built in high school will help me succeed. To me, work ethic is about how you behave when things get tough and how you persevere with responsibility and determination.
