Welp...I saw this coming...I thought as I am being stared down by a shit ton of robots looking to end the human population. Let's be honest, no one is surprised that this is happening. Almost everyone predicted that this would happen. "Young mortal woman, why should we let you live?" stated the beautifully crafted piece of machinery in front of me, the voice box could use some repair though. It sounds a little scratchy, like nails on a chalk board. I believe that this one is the leader by the way everyone is standing behind it, or it could be that no one wants to hear it's voice. I could be wrong, I was never good at reading social ques or interacting with other people in general. I was always more useful with my hands. Building or fixing different machinery around my one-bedroom apartment. I could have call my land lord to fix all of it, but that just sounded like more trouble than it was worth. "Hello tiny human? Would you like to try and live?" the robot demanded impatiently. Ah shit, right I'm being interrogated. Luckily all those late night Sci-fi movie marathons are coming in handy...plus the engineering degree but no one cares about that. "Sorry I-uh-noticed that there is something wrong with your voice box...and it's kind of bothering me to be honest...would you mind if I tried to fix it?" I asked tentatively. I can't really afford to piss of this robot. This may come as a surprise, but I really don't want to die. I am so invested on how these guys are going to change the Earth. Imagine the science! And how much they would discover! They have the ability to go anywhere without the regulations we humans put on every thing. Also what would their form of government look like? Would they have government? Or would they choose to self rule? Do they have a hive mindset? I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS. "Why would you want to 'fix' my voice box? There is nothing wrong with it." it said defensively. I just look at her with my eyebrows raised, challenging her to tell me I am wrong. I will tolerate a lot, but I will not tolerate being told I am wrong or being treated inferior. Which this machinery is doing to me now. "Okay maybe it is a little rusty. Fine you can look at it. Touch anything else and your dead." it attempted to sigh defeated. It came out more like a screech. Lucky for everyone around it will be fixed soon. "Sounds good, I just need some tools and a new voice box." I state. Now we get to the actual useful part instead of just sitting around. I slowly approach from behind making sure that at least one of the robots can see what I am doing at all times. I take apart the paneling behind the head and work my way around the beautifully organized chords and find the voice box. Looking at it, I now can see it is more than rusted. It is absolutely destroyed. By the time I take it out of the head one of the other robots appear behind me with the new voice box. "Thank you" I state. It can't help to be nice to these guys. I switch the voice boxes and put the panel back together. "There ya go, now try talking?" I ask. "How does this sound?" says the robot, it sounds so much better. It sounds like pure music. "It sounds fantastic", I state honestly. It looks at me surprised, like it has never been complemented before. Which I totally understand, I just give it a sad smile. Knowing that I very well may die. "You have proved that you have use for us yet, you may live."
