Bio

Hi, I'm Zia — a curious and motivated Computer Engineering student at the University of Texas at Dallas with a passion for innovation, education, and impact. I thrive at the intersection of technology and purpose, whether I’m building full-stack web apps, mentoring students, or leading creative research projects that win awards. From leading IoT-based research solutions to designing AI-powered chatbots and organizing student tools like smart planners, I’m driven to use tech to solve real problems. I’ve worked on diverse teams, taken on leadership roles, and constantly push myself to grow — because I believe learning never stops, and progress is built step by step. Outside of academics, I create digital products, teach youth in my community, and explore ways to bridge tech with human-centered design. I’m always looking for new challenges that allow me to learn, contribute, and lead with purpose. Let’s make an impact — boldly.

    Billie Eilish Fan Scholarship
Billie Eilish: My Top Three Songs and Why They Matter Billie Eilish has this incredible way of making music that feels like she’s speaking directly to your soul. Her songs often dive into deep, personal stuff, and a few of her tracks really stand out to me because they just hit differently. Here are my top three Billie Eilish songs and why they resonate so deeply with me. First up is “When the Party’s Over.” This song feels like a deep breath after a chaotic day. It’s got this haunting melody that kind of lingers in your head, and Billie’s voice just adds this layer of raw emotion. The lyrics are all about feeling overwhelmed and needing some time to yourself, which is something I think a lot of us can relate to. Whenever I’m feeling drained or like I need a break from everything, this song is like a gentle reminder that it’s okay to take a step back and recharge. It’s like Billie gets what it’s like to be caught up in your own feelings and needs. Then there’s “Lovely,” which is such a powerful track. The collaboration with Khalid adds this extra depth, and together they create this song that’s both haunting and hopeful. “Lovely” is all about dealing with those really tough moments when everything feels dark and overwhelming. The way Billie and Khalid sing about fighting through the struggle and finding a bit of light makes the song feel like a comforting friend when you’re going through a rough patch. It’s one of those tracks that you listen to when you need to remind yourself that even when things are hard, there’s still hope. And finally, there’s “Blue.” This song is all about feeling alone and trying to figure out who you are when you’re surrounded by your own thoughts. It has this introspective vibe that makes you reflect on your own experiences and emotions. The lyrics dive into the feeling of isolation and searching for meaning, and it’s so relatable. Sometimes, it’s nice to have a song that mirrors what you’re going through, and “Blue” does that perfectly. It’s like having a deep conversation with yourself, but with the added comfort of Billie’s music. Each of these songs speaks to a different part of the human experience, and that’s what makes Billie Eilish’s music so special. She has this amazing ability to put complex emotions into words and melodies that really connect with people. Whether it’s dealing with burnout, navigating tough times, or just trying to understand yourself, Billie’s songs provide a soundtrack for those moments, making them feel a little less lonely and a lot more understood.
Tim Dunham Blood Disorder Awareness Scholarship
Blood disorders encompass a wide range of conditions that impact one of the body’s most essential elements—blood. These disorders can vary from anemia and hemophilia to sickle cell disease and leukemia. My own connection to this issue is deeply personal, as a beloved relative of mine—my parent—was diagnosed with a blood disorder. Watching them navigate this challenging journey has profoundly affected me, inspiring both heartache and a strong resolve to raise awareness about these conditions. I still remember the day of the diagnosis. We were sitting in the doctor’s office, the sterile white walls making the news feel even more stark. My parent was diagnosed with a rare form of anemia, one that severely affects their ability to produce healthy red blood cells. While anemia is often thought of as a common and manageable condition, their case is far more complex, requiring frequent blood transfusions and regular visits to the hospital for monitoring. Seeing someone so close to me—someone who once exuded energy and strength—often too fatigued to do the things they once loved has been incredibly difficult for our family. The ongoing medical treatments and the emotional strain that comes with the uncertainty surrounding their health have changed all of our lives in ways we never expected. But the physical challenges are only part of the story. The emotional and social impact of living with a chronic blood disorder can be equally profound. My parent has had to miss work, family gatherings, and even simple activities like walking in the park due to their condition. This constant disruption to daily life has been a painful adjustment, not just for them but for all of us who love and care for them. It's heartbreaking to see them struggle with a condition that many people don’t fully understand, and it’s frustrating when others make assumptions about their health based on limited knowledge. This lack of understanding is one of the reasons I feel so strongly about raising awareness for blood disorders. While many people may have a vague idea of what anemia or other blood-related conditions entail, few understand the true complexities and variations within these disorders. Misconceptions can lead to dismissive attitudes or unintentional insensitivity, which can be incredibly isolating for someone like my parent who lives with a chronic illness. To address this gap in understanding, I’m committed to advocating for better education about blood disorders, particularly in communities and schools. I hope to help organize informational campaigns that share real-life stories—like my parent’s—so that people can begin to grasp the full impact of these conditions. I also aim to use digital platforms to amplify the voices of those affected, helping to create a sense of community and solidarity among people who might otherwise feel alone in their fight. Ultimately, my goal is to create a world where people like my parent receive not only the medical care they need but also the understanding and support they deserve. By raising awareness, I hope to foster greater empathy and help build a network of care and compassion for everyone living with a blood disorder. My parent’s strength and resilience inspire me every day, and I am determined to honor their journey by doing everything I can to spread awareness and support for others who are walking the same path.
