I am currently a senior at Vernon High School ranking 6th in my class. After graduation I plan to attend Lubbock Christian University where I will study Business Management. My goal for the future is to own a western jewelry making business where I can help others feel beautiful with the pieces I create. I know when I put on my jewelry it makes me feel more confident and I want others to experience the same thing. My whole life I feel like I've been a really creative person and I know I want to put that into my future job someday also.

WinnerHi my name is Zayley Horn. I am currently a senior at Vernon High School and have been a part of Vernon ISD since I began kindergarten. After graduation I plan to go to Lubbock Christian University where I will study business in hopes to start my own in the future. While I'm there I hope to be a part of their cheer program. While in High School, I participated in volleyball, track, cheer, powerlifting, FCA, NHS, and FFA. While in FFA I held the reporter position in the parliamentary procedures. My junior and senior year in cheer I got the UCA All American award which allowed me to go to Hawaii and perform in the Pearl Harbor parade. My freshman-junior I went to regional powerlifting and hope to do the same my senior year and make it to State. I have been active in Wilbarger Street Church of Christ youth and have participated in the Thanksgiving Breakfast and helped with teaching Sunday school classes and in the nursery also. I have also assisted with the Texas Ramp Project building ramps for those in need.
Adversity I have overcome in my life so far is losing my best friend Vanessa in elementary school. The loss of her taught me to spread kindness and live life to the fullest. I continue to live my life for her and love like she did. She helped me become a better person and not a day goes by that I don't think of her and the impact she left on me. Another obstacle that shaped me recently happened this past summer when my dad was hospitalized on a ventilator in ICU for 8 days following an accident with a cow. It was hard for my whole family and it taught me to stay strong and trust in the Lord in fragile moments. Seeing my mom stay by his side also taught me what true love looks like, that love isn't just a word but an action. Both experiences brought me closer to God and helped me lean more on him.
My goal for the future is to own a western jewelry making business where I can help others feel beautiful with the pieces I make. I know when I put on my jewelry it makes me feel more confident and I want others to experience the same thing. My whole life I feel like I've been a really creative person and I knew I would want to put that into my future job someday also.
