Bio

Hello! I go by Zaria. My passion is Radiology Technician. I’ve been in student council clubs, have volunteer hours outside of school as well. I’m in a low income household trying to get myself through school which is why I chose community colleges as my options! My end goal is to help my family and put myself through college without having to worry about the bills along the way. I also plan on to further my education if possible after completing and obtaining my associates degree first with the help of you all. I hope I will be able to win and get some amazing opportunities with this being said.

Growing up, I learned that a home is more than four walls and a roof. I learned that home is hope, perseverance, and the determination to keep moving forward even when life tries to knock you down. As a young African American woman and the first generation in my family to attend college, I carry not only my own dreams but also the hopes of those who came before me. Every obstacle I have faced has strengthened my determination to create a future defined not by my circumstances, but by my purpose. My journey has not been easy. My family and I have experienced homelessness twice, and I know what it feels like to wonder where you will sleep or whether tomorrow will bring stability. Those experiences taught me lessons that no textbook ever could. Being the first in my family to attend college comes with both pride and responsibility. There is no blueprint for me to follow, so I have learned to create my own path. Along the way, I have carried the weight of expectations while also coping with personal loss and challenges that could have easily discouraged me. Rather than giving up, I made the decision to keep pushing forward because I know that every sacrifice I make today is creating opportunities for generations after me. My educational journey does not stop with a bachelor's degree. After earning my Bachelor of Science in Public Health, I plan to pursue a master's degree in Respiratory Therapy to develop specialized clinical knowledge that will allow me to care for patients suffering from respiratory illnesses. From there, I intend to earn a Ph.D. in Public Health so I can conduct research, influence healthcare policy, and advocate for stronger public health systems. Finally, I plan to earn a Juris Doctor in Health and Public Law because I believe meaningful change happens when healthcare professionals understand not only medicine but also the laws and policies that shape access to care. My ultimate goal is to bridge the gap between healthcare, public health, and the legal system so I can fight for equitable healthcare for all. Everything I do is driven by a desire to break generational barriers. I want to become the first person in my family to graduate from college, the first to earn multiple advanced degrees, and the first to build a legacy that changes the future of my family. One of my greatest dreams is to travel the world, expanding my perspective while learning about global public health. I also dream of purchasing homes for my parents as a way of thanking them for every sacrifice they made, even during the hardest times. After experiencing homelessness, there is no greater gift I could give them than the security of a place they can truly call their own. Another goal that motivates me is graduating college debt-free. I understand the financial burden that student loans can place on families, and I am committed to working hard, earning scholarships, and taking advantage of every opportunity available to reduce that burden. Graduating debt-free will allow me to begin my career focused on serving others rather than being weighed down by financial limitations. Success, to me, is not measured only by degrees or career titles. Success is breaking cycles. My past has given me compassion, my present has given me purpose, and my future is filled with possibilities. I am determined to make every opportunity count not only for myself, but for my family, and every young person who needs to see that where you start does not determine where you can go.
