Throughout my life, I have walked a path filled with diverse experiences—personal, professional, and spiritual—that have shaped the person I am today and led me to pursue higher education at this stage in my life. My journey has not followed a straight line. Instead, it has been built through years of working in service-oriented roles, caring for others, raising a family, and developing myself as an artist and healer. Each chapter has deepened my understanding of people, the importance of empathy, and the powerful role that education plays in transforming lives.
My experiences working in customer service, assisting chiropractors, managing a business, and teaching others have taught me patience, resilience, and compassion. Becoming a Reiki Master and a crochet educator strengthened my belief in holistic well-being, emotional support, and community connection. These roles brought me closer to people’s stories—their fears, their hopes, and their need to be understood. As I grew personally and professionally, I realized that I wanted to contribute more deeply, not only through creativity and healing, but also by gaining the knowledge needed to support others on a larger scale.
These experiences shaped my personal values: empathy, service, integrity, and lifelong learning. They also solidified my career aspirations. Studying Psychology has become a meaningful step toward understanding human behavior and creating positive change, while my studies in Homeland Security have awakened a strong sense of responsibility and community protection. Together, these fields allow me to blend emotional support with public safety, offering a unique perspective on how to serve my community in a grounded, impactful way.
My goal is to use my education to support vulnerable populations, promote mental well-being, and help create safer, more resilient communities. Whether I am working directly with individuals, participating in community programs, or combining my holistic background with formal training, I intend to use my education as a tool for healing, guidance, and empowerment. I want to be someone who helps others feel safer, understood, and supported—no matter where they come from.
Receiving this scholarship would be a tremendous support in achieving these goals. As an adult learner balancing family responsibilities, work, and education, financial assistance would alleviate the burden and allow me to focus more fully on my academic and professional development. Most importantly, it would help me continue the journey I started: becoming a compassionate, skilled professional dedicated to serving my community with purpose and heart.
Thanks in advance
