Helping people is the best thing to do especially the ones that need it the most. I am the best candidate because I need the scholarship, my father and I cannot afford college needs. I want to be educated and experience the benefit of education. My dad is a high school graduate, I have three brothers and I am the only girl in the family. I want people from the low income family to look up to be and not to give up in life. Education is life. Education is the future.I have always been intrigued by the human body and how to help out through science. Growing up in Ghana I saw a lot of people becoming ill and unable to get the proper healthcare needed because of lack of enough health care service and also due to socio-economic status. I have always shared with my family since I was little that I would one day become a nurse, particularly a midwife or an obstetrician or something that can help the community and save lives. As a current student at Bronx Academy of Health Careers High school, I have always dedicated myself to do more and continue to improve myself. I have attended college courses through the lehman college now program. I have always been involved in afterschool activities to better myself and help my school community. I am a person who enjoys helping others and providing the basic necessities. I am a friend who has always been there for others by providing emotional support educational/academically. I love motivating my peers and getting them involved in debates that promote their public speaking by making them confident individuals.

Al-Haj Abdallah R Abdallah Muslim Scholarship
I want to be an obstetrician or a midwife. I selected biology as my major at Hunter College, Lehman College, City College, Binghamton University, University at Buffalo, and New York University because these are some of the best schools that are good in biology and medicine. Being an obstetrician has been and will always be my dream, which I am very passionate about. I want pregnant women to walk into a labor hall to see a female doctor who is going to help her deliver. It is difficult for some women because there are not enough female doctors, which is a very serious issue that others do not consider. When I was young and I met some females who dressed in a medical field, all I thought was that these female nurses were midwives, not knowing I was wrong. At that time, all I knew was that female nurses and doctors were all gynecologists, obstetricians, or midwives. I did not know any other field apart from these fields. Today I know at least a lot about medical fields, which cleared my thinking and understanding before. This is the reason why I want to be a Muslim obstetrician or a midwife.I am afraid of failure and disappointment.
The most important weaknesses are losing my faith (Eman), my self-respect, and my dignity. My strengths are my parents, being around loved ones, and encouraging friends to do something that will have a good impact on our lives. I was born in Ghana (a West African country). I am a seventeen-year-old Muslim girl in the twelveth grade, graduating from the Bronx Academy of Health Careers in June 2024 (in New York). I am the youngest and the only girl among my siblings.I deserve this scholarship because I want to help myself because my father cannot afford college, and I do not want to go for loans because, in my religion, taking out loans is forbidden (Haram). I have started preparing myself by taking college programs( college courses). In New York, all juniors and seniors in high school have a chance to take some college first-year courses like English, math, general psychology, and many more online in high school. I will get a free period to work and pay for college to help support my education, even though I know my major is very difficult. I am not going to college just because I want to be, I am going to college because seeking knowledge is obligatory for every Muslim, whether male or female. Since I had the privilege to go to school in the United States, I want to make good use of this privilege because not everyone gets this opportunity. I need and deserve this scholarship to help pay for my college classes or reduce my tuition and fees. This scholarship will not only help me physically but also mentally because it will reduce the pressure and burden of my fees, books, and many more and also encourage me to do and be what I want to be, Insha Allah.
My favorite book is my religious holy book, which is the Qur'an. I also like reading a small red book called Hisnul-Muslim. We used to recite it every day at our mosque. This book contains duas of protection and more. I like to watch Indian movies because sometimes they have good background scripts. As a Muslim, what I consider to be my greatest achievement is being a Mummin. Having a good relationship with my Creator and being able to follow what the prophet Muhammed (SAW) thought.
