I am an Engineering Physics scholar at Embry‑Riddle Aeronautical University, graduating in May 2026 before entering the Accelerated Master’s program in Computer Science and Engineering. My path was shaped by early adversity—periods of homelessness during the 2008 recession taught me discipline, resilience, and a focus on solving complex problems. I carry forward the legacy of my late grandfather, an Army Veteran whose strength guided me through his four‑year battle with cancer. Since May 2025, I’ve served as a software intern at the Flexjet Innovation Center, taking on increasingly technical internal development work. On campus, I lead as President of the ERAU AI Club, directing projects in robotics, cyber‑defense, and machine learning. As a first‑generation student, I one day hope to support national interests through quantum engineering—especially quantum error characterization and entanglement distribution for aerospace systems. I remain a solutions‑driven contributor determined to honor my family’s sacrifices by pushing the boundaries of these emerging technologies.

It was the moment I realized that technical mastery is the ultimate tool for protecting those we love. My grandfather, a minister and Army veteran who was my father figure, had been battling Stage 4 stomach and colon cancer since 2020. He had already defied a four-month prognosis for over three years—a "miraculous reunion" of spirit and medicine. Because I was homeschooled during high school to help my mother care for him, I was the secondary caretaker, standing as the backup during the harrowing emergencies that cancer creates, from managing the complexities of an ileostomy bag to navigating the moments when a fungating tumor would bleed. On that October morning, my grandfather suffered a massive heart attack. As my mother’s cries filled the room, the years of preparation collided with a single moment of necessity. In the fifth grade, I had mastered CPR for a school project called H.O.P.E. That morning, those lessons surfaced with a clarity that can only be described as divine. I performed chest compressions for twelve grueling minutes, refusing to let him go, breathing life into his lungs until the paramedics arrived. The irony of that morning is a beautiful cycle of grace: when I was four, he saved me from choking; sixteen years later, I returned the favor. I plan to pay this inspiration forward by dedicating my career to the defense of our nation through Quantum Information Science (QIS). Just as I used my knowledge of CPR to protect my grandfather, I intend to use my expertise to protect the heart of America. By bridging the gap between the complex physics engineering I have mastered and compassionate service, I will honor the minister who believed that the highest calling is to use one's intellect to serve others and the greater good.

In 2020, my grandfather—my father figure and the man who raised me alongside my mother—was diagnosed with Stage 4 stomach and colon cancer. Given only four months to live, he defied the odds and fought for four years. Because I was homeschooled during high school, I was not just a witness to his battle; I was the steady hand my mother relied on during the "perfect storm" of his illness. Caregiving at nineteen required a level of maturity that few of my peers could fathom. While my mother worked from home to sustain us, I acted as the bridge, filling in for her professional presence so she could tend to his frequent medical emergencies. I learned the quiet, dignified labor of care—standing as the backup when his ileostomy bag required changing or managing the terrifying moments when a fungating tumor would bleed, requiring me to remain calm while summoning an ambulance. These moments replaced the abstractions of science with the visceral reality of human fragility. The most defining moment occurred on October 22, 2023. He invested his spiritual legacy into my success, treating my education not just as a career path, but as a calling. Cancer taught me that dignity is preserved through action and that leadership is the ability to remain anchored when everyone else is drifting. As I pursue my Master’s in Electrical and Computer Science, I carry the "fierce determination" of a grandson who has fought for a life. I am not just an engineer looking at data; I am a man who understands the weight of responsibility. I am dedicated to using technology to protect our nation, forever inspired by the minister who taught me that the greatest use of one's talent is in service to others and to God.
