Bio

Art presents itself in almost every way imaginable. My preferred method is through music. I have an extreme passion for music and choir, and I will do whatever it takes to be able to transform that love into a career, no matter how narrow the path. I hope to one day display my passion and talents and bring hope to those who are lost.

I’ve always felt a burning desire to reshape the way certain programs are presented. I yearn to approach things differently, to forge my own path. My inherent sense of disagreement with what is presented in front of me fuels my drive to make a real impact. I aspire to be a renowned singer and songwriter, and my involvement in my school chorale ignites a profound sense of belonging in me. Whether it's organizing, preparing, assigning tasks, or simply being part of a collective experience, I thrive on contributing and making things happen my way. I'm driven by a deep-seated belief in fairness and equal opportunity, ensuring everyone has the chance they deserve. Participating in District Honor Choir for three years and culminating in my first experience at Southwest Regionals, revealed the often-harsh realities of educational disparities. Attending a low-income school presented challenges I hadn't anticipated. Yet, I persevered, and apart of earning the top score in the Honor Choir auditions, my sister and I emerged as the only regional audition winners from our entire district! That moment validated my hard work and dedication. I cherished the experience, sharing my passion with like-minded individuals. However, the stark contrast between my background and that of students from prestigious schools, for whom such events were commonplace, was palpable. Some of us had simply not received the same vocal lessons, stable coaching, or any sort of private training to prepare us for what was to come. Many students there had been especially trained their whole life. As easy at it was me to keep up with the other students, I could always hear that little voice at the back of my head: “You don’t belong here.” I never want to experience something that again, and I never want anyone pursuing their greatest passion to feel like they don’t belong, simply because of their identity or their daily life as opposed to others. I believe everyone deserves an equal playing field, whether it's theatre auditions, writing ceremonies, or medical awards. Every ability should and must be celebrated. My parents, while well-intentioned, often express their desire for me to pursue a more 'stable' career, suggesting that music and choir won't lead to 'greatness.' I wish they could see my vision. I dream of a life where I can both thrive financially and pursue my musical passions—songwriting, orchestras, perhaps even teaching. I will never abandon this dream. If a side hustle is necessary, I'll embrace it. But my musical aspirations will remain my guiding star. I am determined to inspire others to pursue their dreams, regardless of their race, socioeconomic background, or origin. What truly matters is passion, dedication, hard work, and a commitment to positive change. I aim to transform the world, one note at a time, starting with the music industry. I want to create a world where everyone has a fair chance to achieve their dreams.
