I am a Mexican 17 year old girl in my senior year of high school. Some of my hobbies are cooking, baking, driving, and listening to music. The reason why I am going to college is so I can be a neonatal nurse. I take care of and watch over my siblings when my parents can't. I have been doing this since I was younger as well. My mom used to not work but she was always busy helping my dad with his work. bills, etc. When my parents hands were full, I had to take responsibility for my siblings while also taking care of myself. While my parents are working cutting grass and maintaining their clients yards, I have to take care of m y siblings and keep the house clean and neat. I have to do this because we can't afford to pay someone else to do this for us. Then sometimes I would also care for my younger cousins that live with us, when their parents are working. Receiving this scholarship will help out not only me but also my parents. I want to be able to help them pay for my school so it its too daunting on them because I know that college classes aren't cheap. If possible I want to not have my parents worry about the money they need to spend in order for me to get an education and a career. I have always done well in school and nothing has really come in the way of my grades. Since I was younger I knew I wanted to help people in any way that I could. I have a bit of experience in this, as said before when I would take care of my siblings and cousins. I always loved caring for them and I feel like it comes naturally because of this. This also made me be the family babysitter and have my fair share of experience with kids and babies. This is why I want to be a neonatal nurse. I love taking care of others and especially babies and kids. I like how I can combine my passion for taking care of people and my instinct to care for little ones. My 10 year plan to accomplish this goal is after graduation, I would go to a community college (Olive Harvey) to complete my basic core classes that everyone needs. The transfer to Malcolm X college to focus on my medical and science classes. The reason why I´m doing this is because it's cheaper this way, even though if i got a scholarship IK still want to have as much money as possible. The estimated time that I will be in school for would be 4-6 years. This also includes when I pass the NCLEX-RN exam. Then after passing the exam, I am able to start the licensure application process to finally be a neonatal nurse.
