Bio

I was twelve years old, when I lost my dad from kidney cancer. Nevertheless, my grandfather, who was living with us, could not tolerate the situation and ended up having a stroke and passed away right after my dad. My family started crumbling apart. My mom was the only breadwinner and a caregiver left in the family with two young kids. It became hard to keep up with work and supporting family from unexpected situations. We ended up borrowing money from friends and family to support and survive. I refused to let the fact that ‘I am fatherless’ define the great things that I can accomplish. I was given a life that’s mine, and I have to make the best out of it. Knowing that I have to work harder as a first generation student, led me to be the person I am today. I took fire inside of me and pushed myself to keep my strong academics with 4.33 GPA. My strong determination and self motivation has helped me with many leadership roles in extracurricular activities with school as well as outside of the school. I have been helping special needs children/adults in my city intermittently since the last few years. I am working towards achieving a civic services diploma award from the city council by voluntary commitment by serving my city as a youth commissioner for the last 3 years. Growing up with my situation has instilled in me to strive and come out strong in any situation and turn it into future success.

429 words- My Community/ volunteer services Being part of a supportive community that gives back through service opportunities has greatly influenced me and has taught me the importance of making time to serve others. More importantly, committing to service projects and volunteer service has changed my life. Dedicating time regularly to support others has helped me focus less on myself and the pressures of academics and more on the needs of others. I have volunteered in various community service projects through Beta Club, Honor Societies of school, churches and temples in my community. I also participated in food drives and the summer meal program led by my county with no child left hungry during my summer break. What motivated me throughout this involvement in this program was a deep sense of empathy and a belief in the inherent worth and dignity of every individual. Witnessing the struggles faced by families in our community compelled me to take action and do everything in my power to make a difference since I have faced this reality of life in my very young age during my dad’s terminal illness. Leading a small group at my temple taught me how to participate in discussions, but equally important, how to listen as well. I created an environment where they could open up and talk about whatever issues were affecting them. In many cases young kids could open up and share about their daily struggles at home and at school once they feel accepted to the group. Supporting them through their hardships, a loss of a family member, anxiety, depression and peer pressure at school has taught me the importance of being a good listener, showing empathy, and giving encouragement. It feels great to know that they value, and look up to me as a mentor and friend. I am proud to know that my time spent with them has been an investment in their lives that will hopefully motivate them to be the next generation of leaders and to serve their community. Over the last 3 years, I positively impacted my community by getting involved as a youth commissioner/ ambassador for the city, where we can discuss the city's growth and development as well as arising issues by meeting with government officials regularly. I took part in my county lead discussion at the Justice Center regarding ‘Gun Violence in Youth’ during my freshman year along with the county's Sheriff department. Advocating for responsible gun control in my community is another facet of my commitment to the community. I've actively engaged in local campaigns and initiatives to foster constructive dialogue and raise awareness about the need for stricter gun control measures. I believe that promoting safer gun regulations is an essential part of ensuring the well-being of our society. Through collective action and unwavering determination we can make a tangible difference in the lives of many individuals in our society and make our community a better place to live.

The moment that I saw my father’s once-enlightened face in the grim, yet unforgiving casket is unforgettable. Tears slid down my face while silent panic deafened me, with my heart’s tenuous beating almost escaping my chest. In the silent serenity of the funeral home, my mind went blank, jarred by shock as I scanned across my dad’s leaden, lifeless, and listless hands and his pale blue lips which would nevermore utter a single word. At twelve years old, I lost my dad from a deleterious case of kidney cancer on April 17, 2019 after painful harsh treatments for almost 8 months. While we were trying to safeguard ourselves from this trauma, my grandfather, still living alongside my family, couldn’t endure the painful situation and ended up passing-away with a stroke on August 5. My family started to decay; my mom was the sole breadwinner, exasperatingly sapping through her mental, physical, and financial strength to allow for us to keep going. My twin brother and I took responsibility for helping with household chores to relieve her burden. We were living on food brought by other people and started borrowing money from friends and family to keep up with unexpected medical and funeral expenses. No priest or pastor could explain to me how something like this could have come to our life and taken everything just for us to excuse it as “God’s plan.” Although the death of my father made me realize the importance of time with family, we have to sacrifice our social life, the joy of holidays, cheer of sports, and family vacations from our young age since my mom had to work many extra hours to pay off the debt and keep up everyday expenses. My brother and I continued to take responsibility for the household chores and also learned to maintain a strong academics. We learned to take many leadership roles inside as well as outside the school, pouring our heart out for tons of volunteer activities maintaining balance like tightrope walkers. We have both been serving as a Youth Commissioner and Youth Ambassador for my city for the last 3 years. However, I refuse to let the fact that “I am fatherless” define the accomplishments awaiting me. I am given a life that is mine, and I must make the best out of it. Your generous support will not only shape my future but also empower me to create a lasting impact on the world around me. Learner Math Lover Scholarship
I appreciate math because no matter where you go in the world the language of math is spoken. May be at different levels depending on who you are conversing with, nevertheless, one plus one is always two. Because of this free trade is possible between everybody. If we were to every find life on another planet, we may not be able to communicate through our languages. Math is a universal language and would be our way to connect. I enjoy the precision of math, there are no gray areas. In math there aren’t times that the equation cannot be solved, because with time it can always be worked out. I am currently taking linear algebra and multivariate calculus in my senior year, that's challenging but very interesting. Without math many industries doesn’t even exist for sure. For as long as I can recall, computer games have always fascinated me, which later evolved into a deep interest in grasping how different parts of computers work and how networks intercommunicate. While I discovered new types of software programming and hardware devices via different articles and the internet, my enthusiasm for learning about computers grew. As I started learning mathematics in school, my knowledge in understanding the basic concept in the field started getting more clear. My curiosity and interest in mathematics keep helping me learn previously-unknown information about the technological field. Given that I go to college and pursue higher education, I will be exposed to the newest technologies and have the critical skills to compete in an increasingly demanding setting. Because of its modernity, openness, and new challenges, I selected pursuing a career in computing and engineering. I turned my love of mathematics into a kindling desire to learn more about how technology can advance society while keeping in mind the well-known yet revered adage, "With great power comes great responsibility." As my hobby, I also spend a considerable bulk of my time analyzing new developments in computer science and browsing for profitable deals on computer parts. Embarking on such a program would greatly benefit me as I equip myself with better skill sets and increasing my knowledge and understanding of advanced mathematics. I stand enthusiastic and confident in anything involving computer systems since it has main base of mathematics. Clear understanding of mathematics will help me broaden my knowledge in this field and gain exposure to many unstudied areas.

Even though the death of my father made me realize the importance of cherishing time with family, we had to sacrifice our social life, joy of holidays, sports and vacations from our young age.I refused to let the fact that ‘I am fatherless’ define the great things that I can accomplish. I was given a life that’s mine, and I have to make the best out of it. Knowing that I have to work harder, led me to be the person I am today. I took fire inside of me and pushed myself to keep my strong academics possible. My strong determination and self motivation has helped me with many leadership roles in extracurricular activities. I am actively participating in merit clubs like National Beta Club and National Math Honor (Mu Alpha Theta). This year, I was nominated for the Governor's honors program. I served as Junior Marshal in my school’s Senior graduation ceremony for logistics. I volunteer for the county's summer meal programs as well as various temple and church activities. I have been serving as a Youth Commissioner and ambassador for Snellville city since 2021 that provided me great opportunities to meet and volunteer for city planning, budgeting and new developments. I also responsibly participated in town hall meetings alongside the city officials. I assisted vendors and organized a craft bazaar for Lilburn city last year. I have been helping special needs kids as well as adults for the last few years. I have learned to create some games online. It helped me shape myself into a mosaic of life experiences. I envision college as a transformative experience, one that will prepare me intellectually and socially for my future career and adult life. As I approach my college years and continue to grow in knowledge, I anticipate the many opportunities for learning and self-discovery. This field of science and technology in particular, captivates me, and I yearn to delve into the extensive realm of knowledge it offers, with a special focus on engineering. Our social disparities are also heart-wrenching. It is imperative that we, as a community, rise to the occasion and become the catalysts for the change. Growing up with my situation has instilled in me to strive and come out strong in any situation and turn it into future success.

Living selflessly, having a giving heart, and helping others are wonderful attributes to have in life. Being part of a community that gives back through service opportunities has greatly influenced me and has taught me the importance of making time to serve others. My life is a mosaic of life experiences. More importantly, committing to service projects and volunteer service has tremendously changed my life. Last few years, I participated in a youth group at the local church. We set up a pumpkin festival and thanksgiving food drive. The church bought lots of cans, ingredients for special Thanksgiving dishes, and more essentials. We organized everything into bags and gave them to people in our community that were not as fortunate. I also participated in the summer meal program led by my county with no child left hungry during my summer break. Another thing that I have done was donate clothes and other items to the local Goodwill donation center so it can provide access to underprivileged groups of community at cheaper price. What motivated me throughout this involvement in this program was a deep sense of empathy and a belief in the inherent worth and dignity of every individual. Witnessing the struggles faced by families in our community compelled me to take action and do everything in my power to make a difference since I have faced this struggle in my very young age during my dad’s terminal illness. Leading a small group at my temple taught me how to participate in discussions, but equally important, how to listen as well. I created an environment where they could open up and talk about whatever issues were affecting them. In many cases young kids could open up and share about their anxiety, depression and peer pressure at school. It has taught me the importance of being a good listener, showing empathy, and giving encouragement. It feels great to know that they value, and look up to me as a mentor and friend. I am proud to know that my time spent with them has been an investment in their lives. I have volunteered in various community service projects through National Beta Club, Honor Societies of school, churches and temples in my community. Past few years I have volunteered to assist many special needs children as well as adults with their outdoor activities. Leading along with the Student Governance Association, I have helped raise funds for the miracle network during my freshman year. I have been awarded Junior Marshal for logistics for my school senior graduation this year. Along with my strong academics, I have received many merit awards and been nominated for Governor’s Honor award in the last few years. I've actively engaged in local campaigns and initiatives to foster constructive dialogue and raise awareness. I believe that promoting safer gun regulations is an essential part of ensuring the well-being of our society. Living selflessly is something I value and will never let go of. Happiness, love, and good health are the most important things to me for each individual out there. I want to see everyone living the best life that they can live. Through collective action and unwavering determination, we can make a tangible difference in the lives of many individuals in our society.

I will never forget the moment when I saw my father’s once effulgent face in the grim, unforgiving casket. Tears started streaming down my face and silent panic in my own head started deafening me. My mind felt paralyzed in the tranquility of the funeral home. I was muted by shock when I looked at my dad’s lifeless, defeated hands and pale lips that would never hug or utter a word to me. I was twelve years old, when I lost my dad from kidney cancer. Nevertheless, my grandfather, who was living with us, could not tolerate the situation and ended up having a stroke and passed away right after my dad. Losing both of my family members one after another was very heartbreaking and emotionally overwhelming. I felt like lightning struck our life and left us with grief and tremendous pressure that nothing could relieve. My family started crumbling apart since. Kalia D. Davis Memorial Scholarship
My twin brother and I were transitioning from elementary school to middle school, while my dad was transitioning from a healthy, cheerful life to painful deteriorating health with harsh treatments of immunotherapy, radiation and chemotherapy. Nevertheless, my grandfather, who was living with us, could not tolerate the situation and ended up having a stroke. My family started crumbling apart since. My mom was the only breadwinner and a caregiver left in the family with two young kids. She was exhausting her mental, physical and financial strength. Increased unavoidable expenses forced her to borrow money from our friends and families. April 17, 2019 we lost the backbone of our family, my dad. As we were trying to mentally stabilize ourselves from it, my grandfather also left this world on August 5th. Losing both of my family members one after another was very heartbreaking and emotionally overwhelming. I felt like lightning struck our life and left us with grief and tremendous pressure that nothing could relieve. Even though the death of my father made me realize the importance of cherishing time with family, we had to sacrifice our social life, joy of holidays, sports and vacations from our young age. Upon my dad’s passing, the financial burden became the sole responsibility of my mother. To meet our day-to-day challenges, she had to work many extra hours. Since then, my brother and I have learned to take responsibility for our household chores to support our family. I refused to let the fact that ‘I am fatherless’ define the great things that I can accomplish. I was given a life that’s mine, and I have to make the best out of it. I will be serving as Junior Marshal in my school’s Senior graduation ceremony this year for logistics. I volunteer for the county's summer meal programs as well as various temple and church activities. I have been serving as a Youth Commissioner for Snellville city since 2021. I had the opportunity to assist vendors and organize a craft bazaar for Lilburn city last year. I have been helping special needs kids as well as adults for the last few years. Growing up with my situation has instilled in me to strive and come out strong in any situation and turn it into future success. I believe life is like walking on a tightrope. Tightrope walkers must stay focused on what’s ahead every moment. They can not think of where they have already been. In my view, life is an amazing journey only if one can learn from the past, live in the present and hope for a better tomorrow.
