Now, as a permanent resident, I am passionate about technology and higher education and am eager to pursue a Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering from Western Governors University in 2024. Despite many obstacles, I remain committed to my education and confident in my abilities. At first, I thought I knew what I wanted to do as a young 18-year-old, but I was wrong. It took some time before I could figure out my passion for tech. I had to silence all the voices that wanted me to be this or that. Last year, someone nudged me to try coding, and once I started learning, I couldn't stop. I realized that there are so many things to learn and do! I wanted to do so much, but I realized I needed to take it step by step. I went from learning on YouTube to going to college to obtain a degree in tech. Community engagement is also important to me, and I enjoy volunteering for causes that I believe in. Recently, I participated in the "Walk to Save Lives" organized by the Arizona Animal Welfare League (AAWL) and found it to be a deeply fulfilling experience. During the walk, I was training a dog and later found out that the dog was adopted. It’s little moments that make it worth it. We also ended up adopting a dog! During this time, I also had to confront the difficult reality of my father's struggle with alcoholism. Despite my efforts to help, his battle continued, and he often needed emergency medical attention. It dawned on me on the third emergency room visit as I was half awake at 2 a.m. that this person was never going to change. I had to make a hard choice to stop helping him and focus my energy elsewhere. Through all these challenges, I have remained committed to creating positive change in the world.
