Endeavor Public Service Scholarship
I am pursuing a Construction Management B.S. with the goal of obtaining a General Contractor License in the future.
I am writing to express my sincere interest in being considered for financial assistance through your scholarship program. Growing up in a low-income household, I have faced numerous challenges, but these challenges have only strengthened my resolve to pursue higher education and achieve my goals. Despite these financial obstacles, I remained committed to my education. Receiving this scholarship would mean the world to me. It would allow me to continue my studies without the constant worry of how I will afford tuition, books, and other educational expenses. As my household is experiencing the reality of this 2024 economy.
I am a 19 y/o, born into a Hispanic household, my parents divorced when I was 7 y/o. I started attending church with my family when I was 11 y/o where I became part of a community where I was exposed to construction. I started to volunteer in the construction team where I got mentor by contractors and landed in my life mission of creating homes. I volunteered often and enrolled in summer internships for the last 4 years, where one of the sessions was something, they call “Heart for the House” where we the interns help beautified the facilities and not just the physical church, we also help the community. The passion of helping others brought me to life purpose.
My personal mission is for families to have a home. A home, to me, is a place of refuge and comfort. It’s where life happens; a home is much more than just a physical space where people grow, love, and build their futures. It represents safety, comfort, and the foundation for memories and life’s milestones. A home is where people feel secure and connected, and being part of the process that creates such spaces is incredibly rewarding.
I chose to pursue a career in construction because I’ve always been drawn to the idea of creating something lasting and impactful. Construction offers the opportunity to bring ideas and plans to life in a tangible way, and I find the process of building and contributing to the development of homes and communities both exciting and fulfilling. It’s a field where you can see the direct results of your work, which gives me a sense of accomplishment and purpose.
In my opinion, Homes are the heart of communities, providing a safe and nurturing environment. Being involved in the creation of homes is about more than just construction; it’s about helping to provide people with spaces where they can feel at peace, connected, and supported.
