I'm passionate about the developing field of technology in the world. I want to be to be part of the future of technological advancement and be able to contribute to the next big thing like Artificial Intelligence or self-driving cars. I believe that I can be a great candidate for these scholarships because I understand the meaning of hard work and I really want to make my family proud and continue to seize all of the opportunities that I get. Hopefully through my college experience I can further my general understanding of other fields besides tech and build on subjects like composition, speaking publicly and financial literacy as well as other professional and adult subjects. Since I was young I have been able to see that hard work can better your situation and with effort it can teach you all you want to know. I'm referring to my parents who both grew up poor and raised me whilst being single parents, their sacrifice has taught me many lessons about character and I can only hope to make them proud by going to college and achieving my dream.

Nikhil Desai "Favorite Film" Scholarship
My favorite film of all time is Fantastic Mr. Fox by Wes Anderson. This movie is my all-time favorite for many reasons, but the main qualities I love about it are its film style, cast, and mix of serious plot with humor. The style of clay animation and stop motion with diagrammed views of the houses and settings in which events take place make for an interesting visual experience. Director Wes Anderson has proven this to be a part of his style with his other movies like Moonrise Kingdom, The Grand Budapest Hotel, and Isle of Dogs. The stylistic choices of the film are clearly unique to him and are perfectly executed and match the main character, Mr. Fox, and his personality.
The next amazing part of this film is its star studded cast. Starring George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Bill Murray and Jason Schwartzman the cast adds a wonderful performance to bring the characters into a feeling of real life relatable characters. They depict the characters in a way that really portrays typical human behavior like societal pressures of status and relationships.
In addition to all of the awesome characteristics of the film, the writing style of such serious discussion with comical behavior and dry humor makes for a dynamic relationship structure within the plot. Ash looking for his father's approval sends him into reckless misbehavior, and contempt for those around him while his counterpart in Kristofferson is portrayed as a golden child in distress fueling Ash's misbehavior more. Mr. Fox feels the need to continue his life as "Fantastic Mr. Fox" but struggles with the repercussions of his actions with how cocky he acts. It's the nuances in interactions with characters created by their personalities that the writing executes so well at making an enjoyable film for all.
Future Leaders in Technology Scholarship - High School Award
I am interested in pursuing a career in Computer Science and Programming, from the first time the class was showcased to me in middle school I've wanted to become a computer programmer. The Val-Tech program put on a showcase for its feeder middle school and I was one of the many wide-eyed students awaiting which program I would like to join in the Valencia Academy. Computer Programming sparked a passion and interest within me because of the creative freedom that a programmer gets when they want to create a program. The end result of a functioning program brings out nothing but joy from me, knowing that the hours of coding that I had to grind through resulted in a working version of my goal. In the past summer of 2020 I interned at TheCoderSchool in Yorba Linda where I was able to apply all of my programming ability from my java courses to teaching young coders and aiding the primary code coaches. The internship taught me many things including the basics of coding in Python and this small taste of life in a computer scientist career only made my passion for the subject grow. I also believe the computer science field allows me to utilize my unique academic skillset. Throughout high school I have taken rigorous coursework and been exposed to high levels of math and logic due to my computer science pathway courses for Val-Tech as well as because of my own math courses. As a computer programmer you are able to solve almost any problem that a service, system, or data base can provide. Using my education in computer science I plan to join a company to add my skill and education to create a new servicing program or improve an existing one to benefit all of the clients that use it. My ultimate goal however is to eventually start a company with my step-father to provide a real estate service that would organize the property files that banks and private owners have.
