Bio

Hii my name is Ximena Orozco I am a 17 year old senior attending San Diego high school, I was born in San Diego, CA with my parents being from Mexico. I've lived in California for mostly my whole life but being the daughter of only Spanish speaking parents with only a bit of English knowledge but not being able to teach me was really difficult. My journey with learning the language was hard because I had no one at home to help me with it, mostly cause my house rules were only Spanish speaking. All these challenges have helped me evolve and strengthen the kind of person I am and the kind of person I ambition for myself. My overall goal is to attend college and achieve the biggest goal of becoming a first generation in my family and of course making my parents proud. There are many hobbies that I have but the ones that stand out to me the most is Archery and reading. Archery is my passion, I can honestly talk about it for hours, both of these hobbies help me reduce stress and feel like myself again when I really need to. I'm really looking forward to achieving all of my goals and dreams!

I am a High School Senior who is a first generation applying to college. As a first generation, you want to make your parents proud, and you want to prove that all their hard work and effort they put on you doesn't go to waste. I really appreciate my parents hard work and how much faith they are putting in me for achieving a lot more that they couldn't achieve themselves. I right now want to major in Journalism and Public Relations, I want to go out there and show off all the skills that I have been able to form and strengthen throughout all this time, I want to prove that all the hard work and faith that people have in me does pay off, but with the lack of resources to actually be able to go out there and reach all these goals that I have for myself and that also my parents want me to achieve I don't really see it happening right now. I am the kind of person that really worries about the lack of money that people have and how much it affects people when they don't have the enough resources to get someone that will change their life for the better. Having to see parents struggle with money and having to put a limit on their kids goals and dreams is tough; no parent wants that, but I am witnessing that right now. Know that there is no money to apply for at least two universities, but still witnessing them collect money for just an application, I am very grateful, but not having enough resources to pay tuition and other things that you would need for school is a lot. As I have mentioned, money has been a huge challenge in life, with only being able to provide the basics, a home, food, ect. When I was little, I would see different family economies among kids at school. I was able to receive a new phone, which was an Android, probably not the newest model or of course, the new iPhone that all the kids want. When I started to get older I noticed that I wasn't as similar to all the other kids in my class, I was a bit more mature than my age because I was able to see the world differently, a world where people had different level of problems, a world that if you asked for something you would most likely get the answer of "maybe next time" or "wait till the next paycheck" when getting those kind of responses you learn that the world isnt what it seems and that you gotta learn how to survive in it, that at the end of the day there is no difference between having a normal android or the newest Iphone, what really matters and what takes time to understand is that at the end of the day it's just a phone and that instead of worrying about what kind of phone you have compared to the phones that people in your class have there are more important things to think about. That one iPhone I like $1000 dollars but with the phone that you have that was $100, you were able to receive a phone and probably a McDonald's happy meal. Understanding this is the greatest difficulty I learned in life, plus a life lesson that I will always appreciate.
