I am originally from Danville, Virginia where I was born to teenage parents Tia Reed and Jamaal Price. Growing up in North Carolina, I was pretty much always considered “ low income” although I've never felt as if I wanted anything. Although I come from a low-income household, education was heavily emphasized by my mother. We didn’t have everything, but one thing that I knew could take me places was my education. From getting accepted to the #1 ranked fashion school in the world, making the dean's list pretty much throughout college, and holding positions in extracurriculars such as the black retail action group where I hope to increase equality for African Americans in the retail industry as well as participating in DECA where I perform marketing tactics to improve business cases. On top of that, I also work a full-time job and a part-time job, hard work is something that I was bred for. My degree is in “Direct and Interactive Marketing” where I study with an emphasis on Database Marketing/ Data Science is something that I would love to pursue long term to help out my community and low come POC around me. Along with my dream of working in data analyzing, I also work as a cocktail server as well as Real Estate Salesperson to get by in school. During my time as a realtor, I have learned that a huge demographic of African Americans is being discriminated against due to vouchers, or in other terms, section 8 housing. Tons of realtors don't even respond to people in need of housing due to income and the voucher situation.
