Bio
I thoroughly enjoy learning new things. I love to know as much as possible to keep expanding my knowledge. Just knowing the way things work is so fascinating. I have always wanted to be the one to change social norms and get out of my comfort zone. I find myself constantly asking questions. I want to see my meaning, our meaning, as people, as individuals. I like to look deeper into our emotions and how our world works.
I spend time pondering, awake at night, thinking about theories of our universe. How and who we are and what infinity really is.

Giving back to my community has always been a part of who I am. Growing up, I was heavily involved in Boy Scouts and eventually earned the rank of Eagle Scout, which taught me that service isn't just something you do; it's something you live by. The values I learned through scouting, leadership, responsibility, and compassion have stayed with me and continue to guide my approach to showing up for others and the world around me.
One of the most significant things I've learned is that even small actions can have a profound impact. I try to live by that every day. Whether it's picking up trash I see on the ground, holding the door open for someone, or simply being kind to a stranger, I believe that these little things add up. I don't think you have to wait for a big project or a service event to make an impact. In fact, I believe the most meaningful changes often begin with everyday choices.
A significant reason I care so much about giving back is that I want everyone to feel like they belong and that they can feel happy, safe, and supported wherever they are. That means helping create spaces that are welcoming and uplifting. I try to be someone people can come to if they need help or want to talk, whether it's a friend, classmate, or someone I've just met. I've seen how much it means when someone feels heard or seen, and I think that's something we can all offer each other.
I also care deeply about the environment, and I strive to make choices that reflect this concern. I'm not perfect, but I try to be mindful of things like using less plastic, recycling, conserving energy, and picking up litter when I see it. It may not seem like much, but I believe that being environmentally responsible is one of the ways we show respect not just for the Earth but for each other and future generations.
What drives all of this for me is the belief that we all have a role to play in shaping the world around us. Regardless of who we are, where we come from, or our background, we can all contribute something positive. That's why giving back is essential to me; it's not about checking a box or looking good on paper. It's about living in a way that lifts others up and leaves the world a little better than you found it.
Ultimately, I aspire to be someone who contributes to creating a world where people can feel secure and hopeful. Giving back is one way I do that, and I hope to keep finding new ways to serve and grow as I move forward in life.

As a college freshman, I never expected to fall in love with Calculus. To most, it seems like an intimidating subject filled with confusing symbols, abstract concepts, and mind-bending equations. But to me, Calculus is a language—one that describes the very fabric of the universe. It is the poetry of motion, the music of change, and the silent architect of everything dynamic in our world. I wish more people could experience the beauty hidden within Calculus, because it is more than just a class—it is a new way of seeing reality.
At its core, Calculus is about change. It allows us to analyze motion, growth, and even the fundamental forces that govern our existence. The concept of the derivative, for example, is not just an abstract mathematical function; it is the key to understanding speed, acceleration, and even rates of population growth. In physics, it explains how planets move around the sun. In economics, it optimizes profits. In medicine, it models the spread of diseases. Wherever change exists, Calculus is there to reveal its secrets.
Perhaps the most fascinating concept in Calculus is the idea of limits and infinitesimals. It teaches us that even the most seemingly impossible tasks—like summing an infinite series or approaching an undefined point—can be made comprehensible. The integral, which accumulates infinite slices into a whole, is a perfect metaphor for life itself. Small moments, when put together, create something vast and meaningful. This hidden philosophical truth makes me appreciate Calculus not just as a subject but as a perspective on life.
I often wish more people could experience the elegance of Calculus without fear or frustration. Too many students view it as a set of rules to memorize rather than a tool for exploration. If more people embraced it as a language of the universe rather than a mere academic requirement, they might find the same joy that I do.
Ultimately, my love for Calculus is not just about solving problems—it’s about understanding the world at a deeper level. It has changed the way I think, the way I see patterns, and the way I appreciate complexity. I believe that if more people could look beyond the equations and see the hidden meanings within, they too would fall in love with Calculus, just as I have.

Throughout my life, I've witnessed and participated in numerous acts of kindness that have not only positively impacted others but also enriched my character. My commitment to volunteering and community service is a significant pattern of kindness that stands out from dedicating my time to the Chesapeake Beach Railway Museum and the Bayside History Museum to engaging in community service activities with the Boy Scouts, becoming an Eagle Scout myself with a service project to better my community. I have strived to be a beacon of positivity and assistance in my community to affect others positively.
Volunteering at the Chesapeake Beach Railway Museum and the Bayside History Museum has allowed me to connect with history enthusiasts, casual visitors, and town members, fostering a sense of community and appreciation for our shared heritage of our small town. These opportunities opened a door for me to incorporate free history nature walks. I would run through the Town Hall where people could come along, and I would talk about the history of where we were walking and show them in real-time where the History was. For example, A railroad from DC to Chesapeake Beach used to go through the creek area I would lead individuals around the path where the train used to be, and let them imagine what it would have been like 100 years prior. These experiences have shown me the profound impact of preserving history on individuals, inspiring them to take an interest in the past and carry forward its lessons.
Similarly, my involvement with the Boy Scouts has been a cornerstone of my personal development. Through various community service projects, I have contributed to the betterment of my community and cultivated leadership and teamwork skills. These experiences have taught me the value of selflessness, discipline, and giving back to those around me.
One of the most significant influences on my journey of kindness has been my high school friend, Sean Manley. When I first met Sean, his kindness and friendliness left a lasting impression on me. I admired his ability to connect with everyone and make them feel valued. Inspired by Sean, I consciously tried to develop my character, embodying the same warmth and approachability he exhibited. This dedication to kindness has paid off, allowing me to build meaningful relationships and positively influence those around me.
One poignant example of this is the bond I share with Sean. Our friendship, built on mutual respect and kindness, has become a source of strength and inspiration for both of us. As a testament to our enduring friendship and shared values, Sean and I have decided to get matching tattoos when we return home from college this winter. This gesture symbolizes our bond and the journey of personal growth and kindness that we have embarked on together.
In conclusion, my pattern of kindness—whether through volunteering, community service, or daily acts of friendliness—has been a fundamental part of my life. It has allowed me to positively impact others, foster a sense of community, and develop a strong sense of character. Inspired by role models like Sean, I strive for kindness in all my interactions, knowing that even small acts can have a profound ripple effect on the world around us.

Music is an evolutionary process, a narrative that unfolds with each pluck of a string, each note, and each melody that emanates from the soul of its creator. For me, this journey began with the cello's deep, resonant tones in my elementary school with my excellent orchestra teacher. The cello, an instrument with a voice akin to the human range, became the foundation upon which my musical experience was to be built.
Fast forward through the years, and we witness a transformation. The young cellist, once confined to the compositions of others, now stands at the precipice of a new era, one where the roles of composer, musician, and producer converge. Releasing a debut song on all streaming platforms is not merely a milestone but a declaration of artistic independence. Releasing Night Drives has indeed been a "full circle" experience. As the little cellist I was, I know I would be proud to see where I am today.
The transition from musician to artist is a testament to the power of growth and adaptation. The skills honed from years of disciplined practice have now been channeled into the creation of something original, never been done before. The song that now streams across the digital landscape is a mosaic of experiences, a culmination of lessons learned within and beyond the walls of the music room or the studio.
This journey is symbolic of the modern artist's path. In a world where production and distribution tools are more accessible than ever, the barriers that once separated the amateur from the professional are eroding. I want my story to be a beacon for young, aspiring musicians by showcasing that the leap from playing to producing is not impossible.
Moreover, the cello's influence on my musical style must be considered. An instrument often associated with classical music, the cello brings a distinct texture and depth to contemporary compositions. Its rich timbre can imbue a piece with emotion, bridging the gap between the old and the new, the traditional and the innovative.
The release of a song is not the final act but rather the beginning of a new chapter. Each stream, each download, and each share represents a listener touched by the artist's creation. It is a connection forged through melody and rhythm, a silent conversation between the creator and the audience.
My relationship with music is more than a personal success story; it is a narrative that resonates with the spirit of our times. It speaks to the democratization of music creation and distribution, to the boundless potential of those who wish to share their creativity with the world. Music has changed my life.

McClendon Leadership Award
Leadership is such an important concept. Leadership means having the ability to inspire and guide others towards a common goal. It's about being a positive influence and setting an example for others. Leadership is not just about being in a position of authority; instead, it's about taking initiative, being responsible, and making a difference.
Leadership is important because it helps create a sense of direction and unity within a group or organization. Leadership also sets the tone of the group or organization, encouraging others to work together and strive for success. It helps create an atmosphere of trust and respect and promotes collaboration and problem-solving. Leadership also helps build morale, as people are more likely to be motivated and inspired when they know their leader is on their side. A good leader can motivate and empower others, encouraging them to reach their full potential. They can foster collaboration, creativity, and innovation, which leads to growth and success.
Leadership also plays a crucial role in building trust and fostering positive relationships. When people see a leader who is honest, transparent, and respectful, they are more likely to trust and respect them. A leader's actions speak louder than their words. If a leader is seen to be making a consistent effort to be open, honest, and transparent, it sends a message that they are trustworthy. Respect is also earned through consistent behavior, such as treating others with kindness and understanding. This creates a supportive and inclusive environment where everyone feels valued and heard.
Effective leadership is also essential for problem-solving and decision-making. When leaders are respected, they are more likely to be respected in turn, and this can lead to better communication and collaboration. Respect encourages open and honest dialogue, leading to better problem-solving and decision-making. Additionally, when everyone is respected, it creates an environment in which people feel safe to express their ideas and opinions, which can lead to better solutions. A strong leader can analyze situations, consider different perspectives, and make informed choices that benefit the entire team or organization. They can navigate challenges and adapt to change, ensuring progress and success even in difficult times.
Moreover, leadership is not limited to a specific role or position. Leaders can arise from any situation, and they can be successful in any part. They need to be able to assess the situation, consider all of the available information, and make the best decision for the organization or team. They must also be willing to take responsibility for their choices and be able to motivate and inspire their team to achieve its goals. Anyone can demonstrate leadership qualities, regardless of their title or status. It's about taking initiative, being proactive, and positively impacting wherever you are.
In conclusion, leadership is the ability to inspire, guide, and empower others towards a common goal. It's about being a positive influence, fostering collaboration, and making a difference. Leadership is important because it creates direction, unity, and trust within a group or organization. It enables problem-solving, decision-making, and adaptability. Remember, leadership is not limited to a position or title. We can all be leaders in our way. So, let's embrace our leadership potential and make a positive impact in the world!

Volunteer service also provides an opportunity to connect with others. I often work alongside people from diverse backgrounds and experiences when I volunteer. This has allowed me to learn from one another, break down barriers, and build meaningful relationships. By engaging with individuals who may be different from myself, I develop a broader perspective and a greater appreciation for diversity.
Another critical lesson that volunteer service teaches me is gratitude. Giving back to my community reminds me to be thankful for my blessings and compassionate towards those in need. This helps me to be more mindful of my privileges and be more aware of how I can use my voice and actions to create positive change. Volunteering allows me to witness firsthand the challenges and hardships that others face. This experience humbles me and makes me appreciate my life's privileges and blessings. It reminds me to be grateful for what I have and to never take it for granted.
Furthermore, volunteer service helps me develop a sense of responsibility towards others. It encourages me to take an active role in creating positive change in our communities. By dedicating my time and energy to causes I care about, I become an agent of change and contribute to improving my society.
In conclusion, volunteer service is an influential teacher. It teaches me compassion, empathy, selflessness, gratitude, and responsibility. By engaging in volunteer work, I can make a difference in the lives of others and also grow as an individual. Through volunteering, I can better understand the value of service and the importance of giving back to the community. Additionally, I can build relationships with those I am helping and gain a greater appreciation for life and its meaning. Through these experiences, I have become more aware, compassionate, and a caring member of society. So, let's embrace the opportunity to volunteer and continue learning these valuable lessons that will shape us into better human beings.

DUIs, or driving under the influence, have serious consequences. They can result in accidents, injuries, and even fatalities. DUIs can lead to legal troubles, such as fines, license suspension, or even imprisonment. Aside from the physical effects, they can also have long-lasting emotional and psychological effects on the individuals and their families.
In order to prevent DUIs, several strategies can be enforced. First, raising awareness about the dangers of drunk driving through education campaigns can be effective. Educating the public on the dangers of drunk driving can help reduce the number of people operating vehicles while under the influence of alcohol. These dangers include impaired judgment, slower reaction times, and an increased risk of motor vehicle collisions and fatalities. Education campaigns can help people understand the risks associated with drinking and driving, such as the risk of injury or death and the legal consequences of a DUI conviction. These campaigns can emphasize the potential consequences and provide alternatives, such as designated drivers or rideshare services.
Implementing strict laws and penalties for DUI offenses can act as a deterrent. The harsher the penalties, the less likely people are to commit the crime. Additionally, campaigns can make the consequences of a DUI more tangible, such as by showing stories of people who have experienced the consequences of a DUI or by having people sign a pledge never to drive while impaired. This includes increasing fines, license suspensions, and mandatory alcohol education programs for offenders. Additionally, enforcing sobriety checkpoints and conducting random breathalyzer tests can help catch and deter drunk drivers.
Promoting responsible alcohol consumption is crucial in preventing DUIs. Encouraging individuals to plan and arrange a sober ride home before drinking can significantly reduce the likelihood of drunken driving. Bars and restaurants can also play a role by offering non-alcoholic options and training staff to identify and intervene when someone appears intoxicated.
Technology can also aid in preventing DUIs. Technology, such as ride-sharing apps, can make it easier for people to get home safely after a night of drinking. Additionally, some states now require ignition interlock devices for people convicted of a drunk driving offense. These interlock devices require the driver to blow into a breathalyzer before starting the car, ensuring they are sober before driving. Ride-hailing apps and services have made it easier for people to find a safe ride home after drinking. Mobile apps that help individuals track their alcohol consumption and estimate their blood alcohol concentration can also be valuable tools.
Community involvement is essential in combating DUIs. Neighborhood watch groups and community organizations can organize events and initiatives to promote responsible drinking and discourage drunk driving. Encouraging peer-to-peer accountability and creating a supportive environment where friends and family can intervene if someone is considering driving under the influence can also be effective.
In conclusion, DUIs have severe consequences, including accidents, legal troubles, and emotional distress. To prevent DUIs, raising awareness, implementing stricter laws, promoting responsible alcohol consumption, utilizing technology, and fostering community involvement are key strategies. By working together, we can reduce the occurrence of DUIs and make our roads safer for everyone.

During the global pandemic, I needed a way to escape the house safely. This consisted of waking up at 6 a.m. daily to cycle 12 miles! I wanted to show dedication to my health and passion for cycling. Being part of the cycling community allows me to connect with fellow enthusiasts, share experiences, and even participate in group rides or events. It's a great way to build friendships and support each other's goals.
A few ideas can make a big difference in improving roadways for cyclists. One suggestion is to advocate for the creation of more bike lanes. These dedicated spaces provide a safer environment for cyclists, separate from vehicle traffic. Having well-marked bike lanes can encourage more people to take up cycling as a mode of transportation or recreation.
Also, campaigning for the usage of helmets and how important they are. I had a terrifying cycling accident back in 2021. I can only write this scholarship essay because of my helmet. My crash consisted of my front wheel coming off, pinning my leg against the pedal and chain. I landed on my head, shattering my helmet. My bike flew into the air and landed on my back, bruising my ribs. I am forever grateful for helmets and constantly spread the word about their usage to all my friends and family.
Additionally, improving the signage and visibility of cyclists on the roads would be beneficial. Clear and prominent signs that indicate the presence of cyclists can help drivers be more aware and mindful of sharing the road. Installing mirrors at intersections can also enhance safety by allowing drivers to see approaching cyclists more easily.
Another idea to consider is implementing traffic calming measures in areas frequented by cyclists. Slowing down vehicle traffic through speed bumps or reducing speed limits can create a safer environment for cyclists, reducing the risk of accidents.
Education and awareness campaigns can also play a significant role in improving roadways for cyclists. Promoting the importance of sharing the road and educating cyclists and drivers about their responsibilities can foster a culture of mutual respect and understanding.
Lastly, involving local governments and policymakers in discussions about cycling infrastructure is crucial. By advocating for cycling-friendly policies and funding, we can ensure that the needs of cyclists are taken into account when planning and designing roadways.
Overall, my commitment to waking up early and cycling 12 miles every day with my goal is primarily to inspire others. I can positively impact by actively engaging with the cycling community and sharing ideas to improve roadways for cyclists. Let's continue to promote cycling as a safe and enjoyable activity for everyone!

Boy Scouts, after 12 long years of progressing through the ranks, I could eventually achieve the rank of Eagle Scout. Part of achieving this rank included the tedious task of planning and presenting a project that could benefit our community. The Eagle Scout project I had composed required building two bridges and installing 12 signposts along a trail, which has tremendously impacted the community. These bridges have provided numerous benefits that have improved the lives of the people in our area.
First and foremost, the bridges have enhanced the safety and accessibility of the community. Before their construction, there were limited options for crossing certain areas, especially during heavy rain or flooding periods. My bridges have provided a secure and reliable pathway for pedestrians and even cyclists, ensuring everyone can move around the area safely and efficiently.
In addition to safety, the bridges have also fostered a sense of connection within the community. They have become gathering points and meeting places for people of all ages. Families can now enjoy leisurely walks and bike rides together while children can safely explore the surrounding nature. The bridges have become a symbol of unity and have encouraged community members to come together and engage in outdoor activities such as hiking or walking during a children's soccer game.
Moreover, the bridges have had a positive impact on the environment. People are now more inclined to walk or bike across the bridges, which allows for less foot traffic on soggy ground, protecting the swamp around it. The surrounding natural habitats have also benefited from the reduced disturbance caused by vehicles, allowing local wildlife to thrive.
The economic impact of my project should be noticed, too. The bridges have increased the community's appeal, attracting visitors and tourists interested in exploring the area's natural beauty. This influx of visitors has brought new opportunities for local businesses, such as restaurants, shops, and accommodations. The increased foot traffic has stimulated the local economy, benefiting residents and businesses.
Furthermore, my project has left a lasting legacy for future generations. The bridges, being built with treated hardwood, are durable and designed to withstand the test of time. They will continue to serve the community for years to come, providing countless individuals with safe passage and opportunities for recreation. My project has set a precedent for community engagement and volunteerism, inspiring others to act and make a difference in their neighborhoods.
Overall, my Eagle Scout project of building two bridges has had a profound and lasting impact on the community. The safety, accessibility, and connectivity they provide and the environmental and economic benefits have transformed the area for the better. My dedication, hard work, and commitment to serving others have made a difference. I am proud of my accomplishments and the positive change I have brought to the community.
