Bio

I want to pursue a degrees in Physics and use the knowledge and experience gained with my education to better technology and practices utilized in everyday life making them more sustainable and in a conscientious fashion for the future. I plan to pursue a bachelors degree in Physics and later continue my education and pursue graduate studies. Challenges are not new to me. I look at life not defined by a box or by wins or losses, but I view challenges as valuable lessons learned and opportunities for growth. I have had to think outside the box due to severe medical conditions and issues that have occurred. I transferred from the traditional brick and mortar method of attending school to an online learning platform due to my medical conditions. I attended college online via the dual credit program as well as participated in honors and advanced placement courses my entire high school career. I had two surgeries my senior year due to a collapsed lung. Despite the odds, I graduated with a 4.8 GPA as Valedictorian of my high school class with an Advanced Honors Diploma. Volunteering is a vital pillar in my foundation. I volunteer at my local library and participate in the S.T.E.A.M. Program for the community youth. This program inspires, instills, exposes, and encourages today’s generation to engage in the S.T.E.A.M. fields for possible future endeavors through immersive and appealing activities.

I want to major in Physics and use the education gained to better technology and practices utilized in everyday life making them more sustainable in a conscientious fashion for the future and beyond. My goal is to improve the lives of future generations. I have a family deeply rooted in the federal sector and military. Both parents worked for the FAA; in Air Traffic Control and in Air Traffic Systems. My uncle served in the Marines and my mother began her military service first in the Illinois Air National Guard and then she enlisted for active duty and served proudly in the Navy. I come from a multinational family rich in Mexican- American heritage and Black-American heritage. I am continuously enriched throughout my life and in my journey by the example and exposure of grit, determination, dedication, strength, resilience, and most of all the importance of family and community which derives from my beautiful and bountiful heritage. My parents believe in asking questions, taking the time to explain the world from various perspectives, and being the very best authentic version of yourself. I embrace the core values of honor, integrity, loyalty, unity, and strength which are echoed throughout our heritage as well as military service of my family. My life has been truly enriched with exposure to military daily operations during our stays on military installations interacting with active duty and inspiring veterans of many eras alike. These immeasurable facets have given me a clear vision and molded my future self. I volunteer at my community library as an assistant. The library has the S.T.E.A.M. Program where I mentor and engage in activities designed to encourage and inspire the community youth. I hope to inspire and mentor others to pursue the amazing vast opportunities of Science. I strive to foster interests and encourage them. This vital and evolutionary approach engages future generations in S.T.E.A.M. and is essential to immerse and involve the community at large for the future of this planet. Climate change, recycling, conservation of valuable materials, travel, and the pursuits of space exploration are imperative; making S.T.E.A.M. the building blocks and Physics the mortar. I want to make this world a better place for all; to not just live but thrive. I hope to share my joys and journey with my peers, future youth, and the communities of the world in efforts to reverse the course of the present trajectory and lead by example in the great future pursuits with the core values to preserve and protect as we forge ahead. In my senior year of high school, my left lung collapsed which required two surgeries. I battled back and graduated Valedictorian of my high school class with a 4.8 GPA, an Advanced Honors Diploma, and a member of the National Honor Society. In every turn of my life, it has been the selfless help of others that has been the greatest gift and constant. I strive to positively impact others just as I have been; to have a chain reaction of compassion. Those amazing acts of service are unstoppable and world-wide changing. I have been able to see the world and characteristics that are so dear in a new light. Acts of generosity, kindness, compassion, and the desire to help are vital in unifying our generations with purpose. When you can help others, the positivity and greatest reward is achieved.

I am no stranger to adversity. I was born premature despite all the efforts with a long stay in the NICU unit with label “ failure-to-thrive”. My first year of birth was riddled with specialty appointments and another diagnosis of allergies to every food group and the majority of all foods with the exception of turkey, sweet potato, and apple. For nutrition my parents were tasked with paying out of pocket for a specialized formula for me that was created by NASA. I truly believe because of this lifeline, the interests in science was literally nurtured within me. This uphill battle continued with pivots, setbacks, and preparation for a comeback and for me to thrive after my first year of life. I embraced the diagnoses not as deficits but as super powers like my parents taught me. This foundation would prove pivotal when at the age of ten I would once again be faced with a medical event that would change how not only how I was to heal but to exist. I attended a lantern lighting festival in the Mohave Desert and it was truly mesmerizing. The lanterns swirled in the wind and lit the night sky like a dance. Also swirling in the wind was dust full of microscopic particles that would infect my lungs and cause me to suffer in such an imaginable way and gasp for air at the slightest irritation. At this time I was a fifth grader taking all honors classes at my local school. I would have to miss over 138 days of my fifth grade after that October festival and have my parents carry out my teachers instructions and weekly check in on my progress. What I thought was just a season became even more difficult as I attempted to attend middle school in a brick and mortar traditional fashion. Within two months of middle school with my strenuous load of honors classes I was to embark upon a new path to my journey. I continued my education via online charter. I dug into the virtual world of online education and not only was I able to heal and grow physically, but academically as well. I participated in honors and as well as advanced placement courses and became a member of the Junior and National Honor Society. I volunteer at my local library routinely and mentor the community youth in the STREAM Program. I completed college courses while in high school and graduated Valediction with an Advanced Honors Diploma and 4.8 GPA. My senior year of high school did serve up another battle for me when my lung collapsed and required two surgeries and a ten day stay in PICU. So next on my journey was to continue my studies and pursue my dream of Science and in the field of Physics while still recovering from suffering a collapsed lung, I enrolled in Arizona State University Online. I completed my freshman year and began my sophomore year with the continued rigorous course load and I did not meet the requirement for my Calculus 2 course grade standing for the Physics Program. I had a choice to view this a just a failure or view it with the support of parents as they had taught me. As hard of a gut punch this was and took my breath away, it did not take me out. I saw this as a lesson learned with the opportunity for me to pivot and press through this with passion and purpose. And that is exactly what I am doing at this very moment in retaking the course.

Mathematics is a powerful force that transcends the boundaries of language and culture, offering a universal framework through which we can understand and shape the world around us. It is more than just numbers and equations; it is a language of logic, a dance of variables, and a discipline that demands persistence, patience, and a deep commitment to unraveling its mysteries. Like an ornate Picasso painting or the vast night sky, math mesmerizes with its intricate structure and endless possibilities. It is not merely a tool for solving problems but a window into the fundamental truths that govern our universe. In a world where so much is subjective and open to interpretation, mathematics stands as a beacon of certainty and clarity. It functions in absolutes, providing answers that are not swayed by opinion or conjecture. The beauty of math lies in its consistency and the fact that, no matter how complex the problem, the solution is always obtainable with enough dedication and effort. This unwavering reliability is what makes mathematics so essential in various fields, from engineering and physics to economics and computer science. As a scholar of mathematics, I am driven by the desire to explore these vast, uncharted territories, to peer beneath the veil of complexity and reveal the underlying order that governs our world. This scholarship would not only support my academic pursuits but also enable me to contribute to the broader mathematical community, pushing the boundaries of what we know and applying this knowledge to solve real-world problems.

I am no stranger to challenges or thinking outside the box. I had to transition from traditional brick and mortar form of education to an online platform due health issues just when I had began middle school. I went from the famaliar to a foreign all in a blink of an eye. Not only did I have to quickly adjust to my new way of life, with countless medical appointments, procedures, and medications; I was now thrusted into a new community at the height of hormones and higher educational pursuits. To be able to strive in all this, I had to not only change my environment but the evolution that was occurring at a rather rapid pace. I embraced the opportunities in which the online platform of learning presented and participated in honor courses and became inducted into the Junior National Honor Society while in middle school. I continued the rigors course study and scheduled and I was inducted in the National Honor Society . I participated in college courses at Western Nevada College while in high school via the dual credit program as well as advanced placement and honors classes. I am still recovering from back-to-back lung surgeries due to a collapsed lung discovered my senior year of high school. I graduated Valedictorian of my high school class with a 4.8GPA and Advanced Honors Diploma. I learned the true measure of strength and perseverance in these challenging times and that there are many paths to a destination and to pursue mine with tenacity, and open-mindset, and to be the very best authentic version of myself with pride. My mother proudly served in the military and is a disable service- connected Navy Air Traffic Controller Veteran. Due to medical reasons, my mother is disabled from her civilian work. From her fashion walks and projects, to her awe-spiring roles, to the versatility in talents of singing and performing, as well as her activism and championed charitable causes, we as a society are drawn in and mesmerized at her powerful persona in such a petite package. I look at Zendaya and I am inspired and driven to be the very best version of myself with integrity, service, kindness, and intelligence being my foundational building blocks.

I want to erase the stigma that it too complicated and instill confidence in all to try. Success is pursuing your passion with purpose rather than trying to achieve the status quo of what is set in stone. Quality of life is truly the greatest wealth and achievement rather than quantity. We are beginning to see this come conceptually come into existence as templates evolve today in our food, furnishings, health and healing approaches, mindfulness, and money. To simplify and be intentional. To be consistent and move with conscientiousness. To think with impact-fulness and insight. The practices are coming into fruition and success would be for them to be achieved on a regular basis on a national scale. To be able to reduce the methane emissions and improve the health of our longer living population even in the crowded cities would be a great opportunity that only could be accomplished via the insurmountable experience and knowledge gained through internships and academic excellence acquired from academic institutions.

The pumpkin spice chai latte is an inspiring and energizing cup of thankfulness; a liquid muse-mindfulness. The aroma awakens the brain cells while the caffeine has all cylinders firing in a harmonic balance ready to achieve any taskings ahead and the extras that may be chaotically thrown in at a last-minute notice. Festively warmed with sentiments all a glow and the ever slightest hint of naughty spice? "Is there ever such a thing as too many gifts or chocolate with a grin and a giggle"? To peek or not to peek is the true question of the heart and mind and back to work for Santa and in thanks once again we go after one more sip and slip back down memory lane is what this drink does to us all. Work is done with much more glee with the pumpkin spicey don't we all agree? To be hot or not? That is the question. They are both instrumental and quite essential. I am still recovering from back-to-back- lung surgeries due to a collapsed lung discovered my senior year of high school which resulted in a ten-day stay in the pediatric ICU and I turned that event into fuel to graduate valedictorian of my high school class with a 4.8 GPA and Advanced Honors Diploma. If I did this with one lung, wait and see what I do with two!
      Our Destiny Our Future Scholarship
I want to major in Physics and use my education to better the technology and practices utilized in everyday life making them more sustainable in a conscientious fashion for the future. My goal is to improve the lives of future generations, through education, and encourage and foster an approach with conservation that is disciplined, effective, and with long-lasting practices that can be consistently maintained by all. I come from a family deeply rooted in the military. My uncle served in the United States Marine Corps and my mother began her military career by first serving in the Illinois Air National Guard and then she enlisted for active duty and served proudly in the United States Navy. My family believes in asking questions; taking time to explain the world from various perspectives, and being the very best authentic version of yourself. Due to the extensive military foundation of my family and immersive exposure to military life, I embrace the proud military core values of honor, integrity, loyalty, unity, and strength. My parents made a point to enrich my life with exposure to military daily operations during our stays on military installations interacting with active duty and inspiring veterans of the many eras alike. These facets have given me a unique insight and solidified the foundation as well as had and continue to have a profound and positive impact on how I carry myself. I draw upon the valuable lessons gained and immeasurable exposure and carry the strength as I forge ahead. I volunteer at my community library as an assistant in the day-to-day operations. The library also has the S.T.E.A.M. Program where I mentor and engage in activities designed to encourage and inspire the fields of Science, Technology, Electronics, Art, and Mathematics. By participating in the preparation and teaching, I hope to inspire and mentor others to pursue the amazing vast opportunities of Science. I strive to foster community involvement, peak interests, and encourage future prospects. This vital and evolutionary approach engages future generations in S.T.E.A.M. It is essential to mold, immerse, and involve the community at large for the future of this planet. Climate change, recycling and conservation of materials and valuable metals, travel and the pursuits of space exploration are imperative; making S.T.E.A.M. building blocks and Physics the mortar. We are living physical phenomena. I want to make this world a better place for all; to not just live but thrive. By pursuing the platform of Science, in particular Physics, I want to improve the tactics in space as well as everyday travel by fine-tuning the usage of fuels and combustible materials in a more efficient manner that will not only better power the mechanisms utilized but do so with the priority of conservation and minimizing pollution. I hope to share my joys and journey with my peers, youth, and the communities of the world in efforts to reverse the course of the present trajectory and lead by example in great future pursuits with the core values to preserve, and protect, as we forge ahead and beyond. Roll call to all the epi-pen carriers in the universe! A healthy lifestyle is vital in order to thrive and be the very best version of oneself. My parents could not have imagined that when I was born I would literally be allergic to everything except sweet potato and turkey! For me to have a proper nutrition my formula was created in a lab made by NASA for the first year of my life. I have known restrictions and the importance of a balanced nutrition since I took my very first breath. Once I was introduced to solid foods, the challenge truly began. I was introduced to the starches so I could maintain weight. Then I slowly gained a tolerance for the vast majority of foods available. However, I still maintained a severe allergic response to all dairy, in particular milk and eggs, and all tree nuts. I approach this journey with a positive attitude; like a rubix cube to master. My parents were instrumental in expanding my palet in a healthy way by making vegetables, fruits, and lean meats appealing, tasty, as well as very interesting. My parents would literally create a story on my plate with broccoli as trees and cut up pieces of meat as the logs for the river ride into a sea of potatoes. I do not eat creative healthy stories anymore but this foundation has taught and inspired me to creatively prepare healthy dishes that uniquely fall into my restrictive eating lifestyle. I look at items and try to maximum the nutritional value and prepare it in a way I can enjoy like other peers. One may have a milkshake , I will have a soy milk based fruit and veggie smoothie. My mom has time and time again prepared soy milk with strawberry Hershey syrup to brighten my day. I have found potatoes prepared in many fashions to be a excellent choice. From sweet and white potatoe mash with puréed cauliflower hidden in silky preparations, to spaghetti prepared with turkey sausage and lentil or chickpea pasta. Hydration is key in a healthy lifestyle and I know like so many, drinking plain water can be boring and uninviting. One technique I like is to freeze fruit in into ice cube trays and put them in my water with lemon. I have been taught to take the time to read labels and see the ingredients in each item I choose to put into my body. Junk and processed foods day after day start a war in my digestive system as well make me personally so tired. Sure I too have been a sponsor like so many for caffeinated drinks and candy to make it through exams. But when that food crash hits, the short benefit leaves a long lasting way of the flag in stomach aches and sleepiness. This causes one to reevaluate the fueling of our bodies. My mom started freezing purple grapes as a pop rock of sorts to keep me from feeling flat. I may have restrictions in life but I truly embrace the importance of a healthy lifestyle for longevity in life. I found it so evident when my lung collapsed. My healthy lifestyle was key in my recovery as well as enduring the medical condition. I do not believe in diets because they fail . The word “ diet” has the word “die” in it . Diets are temporary and not lasting. For a true healthy sustainable journey you must adopt a healthy “lifestyle”. Just like the root of the word , their is “life” and it is forever.
