Growing up in Compton and Carson, California, I learned early that success comes from discipline, consistency, and serving others. Seeing how hard my parents worked set a great example for me. My parents held high expectations for me and my brother, often emphasizing the importance of excellence and perseverance. While this pressure was sometimes difficult to navigate, sports gave me a constructive outlet to channel those expectations. Through athletics, I learned to appreciate my parents' perspective and began to understand that their expectations were rooted in their desire to see me succeed. Those values have shaped me as both a student and an athlete, teaching me that dedication, teamwork, and resilience extend far beyond the field. As a four-year varsity football player and two-year varsity baseball player, I have been fortunate to help lead my teams to historic accomplishments, including Carson High School's first football championship in more than 22 years and its first CIF LA City Section Division I baseball championship. While individual honors such as Defensive Player of the Year and All-State recognition were meaningful, the moments I value most came from encouraging teammates, mentoring younger players, and helping build a culture of accountability. Being a captain taught me that leadership is about earning trust, communicating effectively, and putting the team's success above personal recognition. That same commitment has guided my work in the classroom. I challenged myself by completing college-level dual enrollment courses throughout high school while maintaining a 3.96 unweighted GPA and 4.5 weighted GPA. In June 2026, I earned my Associate of Arts degree a day before receiving my high school diploma, proving that academic excellence requires the same discipline as athletics. I also maintained perfect attendance throughout all twelve years of school because I believe success begins with simply showing up every day prepared to learn. Outside the classroom, I strived to make a positive impact on others. As Treasurer of the Associated Student Body, a peer counselor, and a leader in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, I have worked to support fellow students academically, personally, and spiritually. I also volunteered more than 200 hours serving elderly and disabled residents in my community. These experiences taught me that teamwork is not limited to sports, but it also means lifting others up, listening, and leading through service. One of my greatest lessons in resilience came during the COVID-19 pandemic. The uncertainty challenged my motivation and confidence, but it also strengthened my faith and taught me to persevere through adversity. Instead of allowing setbacks to define me, I developed a stronger mindset centered on growth, gratitude, and purpose. That experience continues to shape how I respond to challenges today. As a student athlete, I have learned that true success is measured not only by championships, grades, or awards, but by the impact I have on those around me. I am committed to bringing the same dedication, teamwork, and resilience to college and beyond, using every opportunity to grow, lead, and serve my community.

My career goals are rooted in my passion for business, leadership, and community development. As I prepare to enter college in Fall 2026, I plan to major in Business Administration with a focus on real estate and finance. Through my academic journey, including dual enrollment courses and rigorous coursework, I have developed a strong interest in understanding how financial decision-making and strategic planning can shape communities. In the future, I aspire to work in real estate development, where I can combine analytical skills with leadership to create opportunities and improve neighborhoods, particularly in underserved areas. Ultimately, I hope to become a business leader who makes ethical decisions, uplifts others, and builds pathways for people from backgrounds like mine to succeed. Throughout high school, my experiences both in and out of the classroom have prepared me for this path. Maintaining a 4.6 GPA while balancing varsity football, baseball, leadership roles in student government, and community service taught me discipline, organization, and resilience. However, one of the most unique influences on my mindset and approach to achieving my goals has been my involvement in chess. As a member of my school’s chess club, I participated in weekly matches and competitions that challenged my ability to think critically and strategically. Chess taught me that success is not about reacting impulsively, but about thinking several moves ahead. Every decision matters, and even a single mistake can change the outcome of an entire game. This lesson directly applies to my future career in business, where careful planning, risk assessment, and long-term thinking are essential for making sound decisions. In addition, chess reinforced the importance of patience and adaptability. Not every game goes as planned, and I often found myself in difficult positions where I had to remain calm, reassess my strategy, and find new solutions. This mirrors real-life challenges I have faced, such as balancing academics with athletics and overcoming the pressure of high expectations. Instead of giving up when faced with adversity, chess taught me to stay focused, adjust my approach, and keep working toward a solution. Another valuable lesson I gained from chess is accountability. In the game, every move is your responsibility, and this mindset has helped me grow as both a student and a leader. Whether managing responsibilities as Treasurer of my school’s Associated Student Body or mentoring others through peer counseling, I have learned to take ownership of my actions, learn from my mistakes, and continuously improve. Chess has also strengthened my ability to remain composed under pressure. Similar to high-stakes situations in sports, where I competed in championship games, chess requires mental focus and confidence even when the outcome is uncertain. These experiences have taught me to trust my preparation and make decisions with clarity and purpose. As I pursue my career goals in business and real estate, I will carry these lessons with me. The strategic thinking, patience, adaptability, and accountability I have developed through chess will guide me in navigating complex challenges and making meaningful contributions in my field. More importantly, they will help me become a leader who approaches every decision with purpose and integrity, ensuring that my success also creates opportunities for others. In the end, chess has been more than just a game, it has been a training ground for the mindset I will use to achieve my goals and make a lasting impact on my community.
