My life goal is to be able to pay off my mother’s mortgage and give to her everything that she gave for me. Especially after the death of my father, we have been struggling financially, and I want to work hard enough so I don’t have to worry about financial issues anymore. I want to work in Construction Management and build sustainable structures or infrastructure that benefits the environment and our community as a whole. I truly believe that I can make a difference in the world and it all starts from me graduating college.

Ever since I was a child, I enjoyed building with Legos and building models to play with. Now, as a teenager, I have gained more experience with carpentry and working on projects around my house and other people's houses to fix them up. While doing this, I gained a lot of problem-solving skills and learned how to plan out a project and gather the necessary materials to complete it. I initially started college to pursue economics but realized that I would not be making a difference in my community and the world.
I wanted to pursue a career in a field that would benefit other people and work in person, instead of sitting behind a desk all day. I would like to work on construction projects that have to do with sustainability and clean energy, like building clean energy farms, building sustainable, affordable housing, or water treatment for communities without access to clean water. I feel that a career in constructing sustainable architecture would be very fulfilling for me because I want to change the world in any way that I can.
With how our country doesn't focus on utilizing clean energy, I would want to be part of the group that brings new solutions to the table and helps change our environment for the better. Environmental consciousness is another issue that I feel strongly about, and my program at the University of Massachusetts Amherst emphasizes that topic. Climate change is only getting worse and if we don't do something about it in the next few years, our country and our planet will be in danger. I would also like to use my construction degree to build affordable housing for communities that are in dire need of it. With the rising costs of rent and stagnant wages, many families are struggling to afford housing, which should be a basic human right. Not only do I want to build affordable housing, but I want to make sure that it is sustainable for the environment so I can help out with two things at the same time.
The reason I chose to pursue a career in construction is so that I can make a difference in the world and have a fulfilling career.
