Shidarion Clark Tech & Innovation Scholarship
From a young age, I have been fascinated by computers and coding. This passion has only grown over the years, shaping my academic and professional aspirations. My primary academic goal is to earn a master’s degree in computer science, a milestone that I believe will open significant career opportunities and allow me to pursue work that I genuinely enjoy.
The foundation of my interest in computer science was laid in my early years when I took online coding lessons. These initial experiences introduced me to the logic and creativity behind programming, sparking a deep curiosity. However, it wasn’t until my sophomore year of high school that I seriously began considering computer science as a career path. During this time, I researched different majors, seeking one that aligned with my interests and strengths. I discovered that computer science not only matched my passion but also offered a wide range of career possibilities.
A major influence on my decision to pursue this field has been my older brother. He studied computer science in college, and through him, I had the opportunity to see real-world applications of coding and software development. Watching him work on his projects was both inspiring and enlightening. His experience demonstrated the practical and creative aspects of coding, making the field even more appealing to me. Additionally, I saw firsthand how a degree in computer science could lead to diverse job opportunities, including remote work options that provide flexibility and work-life balance.
To further develop my skills, I enrolled in a formal coding class at TSC through dual enrollment during my senior year of high school. This experience has been both fascinating and rewarding, reinforcing my desire to advance in this field. The coursework has challenged me to think critically and problem-solve, essential skills for a career in technology. It also helped me decide for sure whether or not I want to truly dive into this field of work and while the course work was very challenging, I truly loved the concepts of the things I had to do for this course.
Earning a master’s degree in computer science will allow me to deepen my expertise and specialize in areas that align with my career interests. Ultimately, I hope to build a fulfilling career in coding, where I can apply my knowledge to create innovative solutions and contribute meaningfully to the field. With the strong foundation I am building now, I am confident that I am on the right path toward achieving my academic and professional goals.
Spider-Man Showdown Scholarship
Spider-Man has been my favorite superhero ever since I first saw the Ultimate Spiderman series on TV when I was younger. Ever since then, I have loved everything to do with the superhero, whether watching the movies, playing the games, or even buying Spiderman stuff. The actor that is my favorite Spider-Man is easily Tom Holland. He seems to be the one that is going through what it takes to be Spiderman in the more recent movies and I like how motivational and how smart he is. Including the fact that he is affiliated with Tony Stark and the gadgets that he can use, I like the way he fights his villains. Like for example, in Spiderman: No Way Home, he teams up with the other Spidermen to not harm them but find a cure to what causes them to be in their more villainous light. But the thing I love the most about him is that no matter how much responsibility he has to take when it comes to fighting villains and his day-to-day lifestyle, the studio keeps it clear that at the end of the day, he is still a kid and has a lot to learn about the roles Spiderman has to play. My favorite, and most recent, example of this is in Spiderman: No Way Home, where Tobie has to stop Tom from completely killing Green Goblin out of Tom's anger for killing his Aunt May. It shows that Tom still has to learn about letting go of his anger and not taking it out on something or someone.
