Little Bundle Supermom Scholarship — High School Award
I am the Oldest child of a single mother of 4.I spent most of my time helping raise my other sisters whenever my mom couldn’t due to working as a social worker all throughout the week and on weekends still doing school. My mom has raised my sisters and I on her own since I was 6 years old.Due to this we have been through a lot. With having to move a lot because of our financial situations. We've been from moving from my grandma’s to an old apartment then back to our grandma’s as many times as I can count.Despite this we were still happy because she worked hard to make sure that we didn’t know how bad our financial situation was.We still had toys for Christmas without questioning the messed up Christmas tree. She still made sure we had school clothes to wear and books to carry.Even when I played softball and had to buy new uniforms and cleats she still came through.I didn’t realize how we were struggling until later on.She kept up the facade for so long just for us.I wish to pay her back someday when I’m older as much as I can.
Once I learned of how she was trying to keep us as happy as possible despite our problems I made sure she wouldn’t have to worry about me at all.I tried to study as much as possible and attempted to keep my grades up so she would not have to worry about me.When she left us with grandma for work I would help my sisters with their homework and feed them,so she wouldn’t have to worry about that as soon as she got back.As of right now I’m applying to as many jobs as possible since I’ve hit 16,so that she won’t have to worry about my basic teenage needs such as having my hair did, clothes, shoes, etc.
I wish to take care of her when I get older and for her to not have to worry about me so I do plan on going to college.I wish to pursue a degree in veterinary medicine and also minor in language and culture in order for me to learn more about other people and their culture.Hopefully one day open my own clinic for where people will not have to pay so much at once for their pet.For people to be able to pay in installments if they do not have the money at the time. With my own clinic I will be able to provide for me and hopefully help out my mother.Shes the one that kept me going when I felt like dropping out of school. The main reason why I have a 3.5 gpa in school and have decided to keep going and work harder. What I am pursing will be hard to accomplish I realize this. There are time when I think maybe I should try something easier or just drop out as a whole. Then I remember my mom kept going for us so I plan to keep going for her and to see my dreams come true. All I can say is she is my superwoman and without her I wouldn’t be the person I am today.
