My name is William Wilson. I am a senior at Booker T. Washington Magnet High School in Montgomery, AL. I am a classically trained guitarist and percussionist who loves all music. I am currently a member of a prestigious club of young men called the Gentlemen of Distinction which is a organization that focus on my generation’s daily societal issues, concerns and resolutions. I enjoy volunteering with local businesses; Nicole Sloan Realty and 1SYNC Technologies in their annual food drive to provide meals for 100 families during the Christmas holiday season. I value service and am proud to be of service to my community, my church and my peers. I truly believe service is my purpose here on earth. It is always my desire to give my best no matter the situation. I am a proud member of the United States of America Gymnastics Organization (USAG) as a elite competitive gymnast. I am currently a 3 time Men’s Gymnastics Junior Olympics National Qualifier, a 8 time Regional Qualifier, a 4 time Regional Vault Champion and a 6 time Alabama Men’s Gymnastics State Champion. My favorite subject is History. I plan to study Health Science in college with a focus on physical therapy to eventually open up my own physical therapy facility. My motto: “ Do what you have to do to accomplish the things that you want to do.”

Hobbies Matter
I have been told many times, growing up, that I have always been an agile kid. As a little guy at the age of three, my mom signed me up for preschool gymnastics to filter some of my high energy. I remember being really excited about being able to jump and flip to my heart's content in a place that welcomed my energy. Gymnastics halted my climbing on furniture and doing somersaults on my bed. The sport of gymnastics is one of the unique interests that is affording me many awesome experiences that continue to greatly impact my life.
This high-energy sport has helped me to maintain discipline and in exchange, this has positively impacted my work ethic while being in the gym and outside of it. For this reason, it is my dream to further pursue gymnastics on a colligate level. This goal has prompted me to realize that being successful academically holds the same importance as giving my all on the gymnastics floor. Having this mindset has helped me to focus on maintaining a healthy balance between school, community service, and gymnastics, which in return motivates me to give my best in all that I do.
Gymnastics has helped to improve my social skills, which has strengthened my interactions with others. Being able to reap all of the social benefits of gymnastics has blessed me with great self-esteem and confidence. This sport has afforded me the privilege of creating long-lasting relationships and friendships.
Having a background in gymnastics has opened up many opportunities for me to help and be of service to my community. I have helped local businesses and my church to assist the needy by providing clothes, meals, and other supplies. In addition to gymnastics allowing me to help out my community, this sport has given me the opportunity of leading my team to win our state competition and to participate in our regional competition. Furthermore, my leadership has granted me the title of being Alabama’s Gymnast of the Year and State Champion for the 2020-2021 season. This sport has given me the gift of becoming an open-minded person and always being optimistic about every situation that I come into contact with. This unique skill has trained me to always handle every situation with a great amount of discipline and care.
The Sport of Gymnastics has taught me many life lessons that I will indeed use forever. I am extremely grateful for the time that gymnastics has given me so far, and I am very excited to see what the remainder of my senior year has in store for me. All in all, this sport means the world to me and I will forever be thankful for everything it has given me.
Bold Patience Matters Scholarship
Patience first and foremost is a great quality to have when dealing with everyday life situations. In my opinion, patience is the number one key to success and is a handy tool to use every day. Patience is important to me because, with it, I believe anything is possible. Patience has the ability to open up opportunities that no other valuable skill can. I believe that patience attracts positivity in and outside of the workplace. Patience makes life easier and it reduces stress.
I remember one time I went to the gym with my friends and all of us decided to take on the same workout plan. Everyone was doing great, except for my friend Cameron. All of my other friends started to get annoyed because Cameron was the only one that made the process of our workout longer. Cameron is the smallest guy in my friend group so it made sense for him to take longer than us. I saw that Cameron started to get discouraged and planned to leave, so I walked over to him and assured him that there was nothing wrong with him taking his time. I let Cameron know that he was going to need to have patience with our friends and the unfamiliar equipment. So because of this, he gave it a second try and he started to pick up the pace. At the end of it all, patience presented the opportunity of being able to bond with Cameron and my other friends.
