My passion for hospitality is from my memories of family meals. My mom’s cooking taught me that food is more than just something to nourish your body, it brings people together and celebrates culture. As I’ve grown older and have taken culinary classes, culinary competitions, and more, I’ve come to understand that my passion for food is not only to cook amazing and the best food but it is also my wish to create welcoming spaces for everyone.
I want to use my passion for hospitality into making a meaningful impact by opening restaurants that go beyond being just places to eat. These will be places where people can connect, share moments, laugh, and learn about different cultures. From my Ecuadorian heritage, I can see my future restaurants showcasing Ecuadorian and Hispanic cuisine, like llapingachos and pollo guisado, and serving as a bridge to learning about these cultures foods. I truly believe that food has the power to unite people and is a symbol of love, and I want to share my family’s story and culture through the dishes I serve.
Travel has also played a significant role in shaping my vision. Studying abroad in Japan during the summer of 2023, I witnessed how food could bridge language barriers. Experiencing new foods, learning their traditions, and sharing meals with people from all different backgrounds showed me the profound impact food can have on connecting with other people. I hope to create a similar connection in my future restaurants, where everyone feels at home and welcomed.
Beyond serving delicious food, I will use my role in hospitality to uplift others. I believe success is about empowering and inspiring others to achieve their goals, whether it’s mentoring chefs, supporting local communities, or creating opportunities for those who share my passion. My dream is to leave a legacy of integrity, passion, and inclusivity, which are the traits that I have. In all my most important part in this industry is to honor the roots that have shaped me into the person I am.
Ultimately, I will make a difference by sharing the love and unity that food has brought into my life, one dish and one guest at a time. By celebrating my heritage and embracing the world’s culinary diversity, I will create spaces that foster understanding, community, and lasting memories for everyone who visits.
